Nice color combo but if I was going to track a car it would be a coupe and not a conv. with a make over. This is a beautiful car but no way to be looking like this if you are driving on the streets, not for me, I'd remove the wing and roll bar and enjoy it for street use, buy another 355 coupe shelled out for track use.

Mitch - I agree with you about the 355. My budget permitted me to buy a 360, but I favor the 355 for a number of reasons. You know what they say, Whatever floats your boat....

You must be refering to the Toyota 4 runner with 120,000 miles. But as long as it continues to run, it still have a home.

The F355 (to me) is still the prettiest stret car Ferrari ever built! Ever!

It seems that you have this fetish about ferrarichat--You come here and denegrate Ferraris and get your suited reward and then complain that this board is filled with people that love (well) Ferraris! What the frick did you expect! Why don't you stay over on Lamborghinichat?

I like the 360 Modena with the Hamman kit on it. That car looks great with the wing. Even the 355 coupe looks ok with the Challenge wing.

Also, Diablo was not designed with the wing originally. It was added after the fact.

Let me explain for you guys here:

Some driving clubs do not allow convertible cars unless they have an approved roll bar in their track sessions.
The wing does fulfill a purpose when on the track at speed.

So the owner of this car wanted to have a Spider as well as the option of tracking it. I don't agree with the looks but I highly applaud him for making the transition (which is reversable) and use the car for some good old track time.

Matt,
I still don't see why you do not like my car ?
The white wheels will be changed to florescent green soon.
I also have two sets of Challenge black rims, but these whites have street rain tires on them instead of the slicks

I believe "rice" or "ricer" refers to the imported supped up asian cars.

Upon seeing one, the following phrase is usually rendered :

"Excuse me, Blockbuster called and wants their copy of The Fast and the Furious back."

During my days living in Miami I got to see a far uglier 355. It was a yellow Spider with multi-color poke-a-dots all over it. I don't know if they were painted on or just stickers, but it was hideous! I have seen it many times roaming around South Beach. Maybe some of the Florida guys know and/or have seen the car also.

Wings are rice if they are just bolted to the car with no setup changes to the suspension.

Wings are functional if the setup is tuned to match the downforce of the wing.

But back to the original question: Perhaps allan is trying to indicate that this F355 has become almost as ugly as his beloved diablo(job). (spelling mistake on pourpose)

I have to agree with Allen that thing looks silly. If you want to go fast enough to need a wing then why on earth would you buy a spider? Also, does it have white interior? All it is missing is curb feelers a fur dash and some neon underneath it.

I would have dumped the passenger seat, the soft top , the cover top , put on some challenge brakes ( maybe he did ) .

Would habe been a nice barchetta for the track.

Looks hideous to me. Stock 355 is still pretty much perfect from any angle. But then nearly everything has stupid rollbars or versions thereof on now. Look at the Maserati spyder or 360. Messes up the form of the car IMHO.

Wing on a convertible? Someone explain how it's going to work efficiently with that airflow.

To me the car does look kind of ugly. If its function before form for the racetrack, then so be it. But, I sure hope they remove that stuff before taking it back home!!

In regards to wings on Ferrari's, some wings do look good. There was a racing 360 I once saw that looked incredibly good with a wing.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but other than the F40/50 most Ferraris are not designed with a wing. The wing on your Diablo looks good because it was designed to go with the car. That wing on the 355 may be functional but the design does not go along well with the car. Put it on a Diablo and it would look just as out of place.

Lol, everyone here is soo defensive, and must always throw Lambo into the mix immediately. Pretty funny.

Anyway, lets not forget i have a 355 Spider, and what im refering to in this car, is first and foremost, the color, then the wing, which looks like it belongs on a honda, and then the rollbar, which looks misplaced.

By the way, Lambos look good with wings, F-cars usually do not.Upload

I really like the color combo with the grey Challenge wheels now.

Black car with BLUE wheels, icky!

Reason not to get a B. The dual-purpose car! It gets raged on, but is really a lot of fun.

Hubert, yeah I get it.

"but that 355 shouldn't be scolded"

Your kidding right? It's a hunk of raw materials bonded together. It's not a living breathing thing. It's not a child I'm wrongfully scolding.

I find it ugly. TO ME it looks like it has grown rice-like appendages.

I'm the same way with non-automotive art as well. Some art is worth a great deal to me, some is not.

tyler, thats my point... sometimes you see the beauty in something via it's function, and the "look" of it never cross your mind, get it?
like my car... stripped bare; no carpet, paneling, nothing, but I think it's bare skeleton is beautiful... to each his own, but that 355 shouldn't be scolded.

Hubert, uhh, wrong. I did not say they were not useful.

They may indeed be useful to the owner, but they are damn ugly(imo) and they do look like the equipment I see on many "ricers" these days.

While each man has his own reasons I would guess that functionality was not the main goal here. If it was, why not just get a 355B?

Tyler- intresting question.

Is a roll bar on a Spider you take to the track rice?

Is a (assuming it's a painted Challenge wing) race-proven rear wing in the airstream on a RWD car that can do 170+mph still rice?

I'm still not a fan of the painted wing asthetically, but on the whole the car's really not all that bad. Does look better stock though.

Like a Zit on Cindy Crawford wouldn't make her ugly. I wouldn't toss her out of bed :-)

The wing is OK, but the roll bar definitely has got to go.

Or get a better looking roll bar, one like the 360 Spider (double hoops).

Im sorry...cant believe im about to say this...but for once I actually agree with Allan on this. The 355 in itself is gorgeous and while the roll bar and *possibly* the wing are useful, I just dont think they fit aesthetically. I would take the car without the wing and with a removeable roll bar...I would love one on the track with the spider, but dont need it on the street.

It is a quesiton of aesthetics, not effectiveness and necessity. No doubt both add-ons serve a purpose, but I just like the lines of the 355 better without them :-)

Just one opinion, so dont ring me out just yet!
