You should try to sell it to one of the Indiana Pacers.

Ryan....

I just think it has been on the shelf too long....that's all....a total repaint/color change is a definite no-no however.

I'm working to try and dealer trade it for a package of 3-5 cars in exchange.

It's a legitimate Candian spec car, 13,600 km (8,500 miles), no stories, but it hasn't seen the inside of a Ferrari dealer for 2 years....so there ya go. We've always been willing to accept fair market value, and our perception of that in our market is not higher than it should be either. It's just one of those things I guess. Oh well...it's been fun to drive.

This might be a silly question, but would it kill the resale value to repaint it silver or titanium? Or perhaps a Swaters or Tour de France blue?

It's "too blue" in all of the photos except for the 2nd and 3rd ones. They are the most realistic to the naked eye if you saw the car in person.

Jeff....

More than we'd be prepared to pay I think.

Rey...

Thanks again for posting the pics....I was too impatient to try the 5th time to figure out the formatting this afternoon.

Kds,
I have to say that is not a good combination. 18 months in inventory tells the story. I wonder what it would cost to change the color to black?

i had a pastel yellow porsche with blue interior and canvas roof that looked amazing. got complements non stop for 3 years. yellow looks much better with blue than more typical black, imho which looks like a bumble bee!

Wayne,

I replied to your e-mail this morning....sorry about that, but I left the office early yesterday afternoon around 3pm MST. Thanks for the inquiry, but as I indicated earlier, I didn't join F-Chat to troll for customers. Nothing personal.

I'll gladly give anyone my "2 cents worth" on my 16 years selling this stuff as my contribution to the community, as I am learning so much here about TR's it's unreal, but I'd rather not do business.

Ryan....

I believe there are more millionaires in Calgary, where I live, than in any other city in Canada. There are lot's of $100K++ cars here, and about 100 Ferrari's and Lamborghini's combined on top of that.

You are right about our taxation however....it's brutal.

On the color combo.... I keep thinking "Sunoco" for some reason....LOL !! I'll post pics this morning...but I don't know if the color will show up.

Nebula....

Great color combo...it's one of my personal favorites, next to Fly Yellow. I just drool over "Azzuro California" car pics with the "Crema" interior that get posted here. Funny how this color thing is......as someone who has worked in the business, you'd understand.

Doody....

Really ? Gawd...it was a great color and sold very well on the SLK...that's too bad. A yellow SL55 with the turbine wheels would have been really nice !! Benz is stupid in that regard....Porsche, Ferrari, Maser all have "paint to sample" programs and charge accordingly...Benz in missing the boat IMHO.....as their "Designo" packages, while attractive, are seriously overpriced and your choices are limited.

The yellow on blue is way better than yellow on red IMO... you should try and market it as a U Mich Commemorative Edition!

Kds - I think it's because nobody in Canada can afford an F-car - if anyone makes serious money Revenue Canada steps in and does their part.

Nebula - that's a shame. The light blue metallics (both the grigrio and azzuro CA) on cream are the finest! Second only to black on bordeaux in my book.

It is strange.

We had an 88 TR with 2800miles. It was a light metallic blue (don't know the name) with a cream interior. It looked great! Wonderful contrast.

Sat and sat and sat and collected dust, because of the color.

Go figure!

fwiw, mb stopped doing that yellow they did on the SLKs. i tried to order an SL55 painted in that yellow (it's very close to Giallo Modena). they told me NFW. i kicked and screamed and i got it down to a "maybe, if your dealer bends over backwards and lets us ream him" (i'm paraphrasing of course). then they dropped the color, so it's "REALLY, NFW" now. sheesh.

totally off topic :-)

Andrew...

No, it is not a Fiorano edition.

bboxer...

I have sold 2 Mercedes SLK's in yellow and blue when I was at the MB dealer...and it does look good....just like this car. Go figure.

Paul...

I would, but I am not here to sell to F-Chat members, rather to learn about TR's, so I will keep the commercial side out of it. But I may post a picture just for reactions, later when I have time.

I am always amazed how color tastes are contagious. I've never owned a yellow with dark blue interior but, as early as the 60's, I saw yellow SWB's and 275GTB4 in that combination and they were very stunning and in some cases the choice of the factory. A friend recently ordered his 360 in that combo and I think it looks more elegant than yellow/black. FoD was right, you've got to see it to appreciate it.

Ferrari of Denver had a Yellow Berlinetta with Blue interior on their lot for a long time before it sold recently. It cracked me up - they said right up front in their ads: "its not as bad as you think". In person I did not mind it - if you are going with a bright yellow car anyway, why not have a bit of color contrast.

In the case of the FoD car, the buyer very likely got a good deal since, due to the colors, it was priced below what its condition should have warranted.

Tom....

I'd agree if we had received offers below our asking price....but none have been forthcoming.

The reason I ask is that I saw the photos of the silver and green leather 550 here the other day......that was butt ugly......

FofCentral Florida had the last 355 Fiorano #100/100 on the showroom several months ago with the same color combo (yellow/blue). If you only looked at the build sheet, you would probably puke, but seeing it in person, it was striking. And I tend to be very critical of anything not rossa/tan.

I think to be sold it must be seen in person. A car sales friend of mine once reminded me there is a butt for every seat. Good luck.

"but for the life of me we can't seem to resell it"

its funny how the free market works - I think you have your answer on the colour combo relative to the price you are asking

We have had this car in our inventory for a little over 18 months now..........and frankly it does not look bad. The blue looks black in all but the brightest of natural light....and even then.....

Has anyone else seen a car in this combo ? Someone must have liked it when it was new as they bought it.....but for the life of me we can't seem to resell it.

This is not an offer to sell the car to F-Chat members BTW....but merely a request for opininos on the color combo.
