Thank you very much Peter, that is exactly what I was trying to find out. Hope it will be helpful in the effort to adopt the same program here. Now I just have to find out who to address in the legislature, I guess. Still open to any suggestions for succeeding in getting this done.

LOL - BRUCE...GOOD ONE....

A front plate is a revenue ploy. Are they trying to tell you a cop in front of you is going to read your plate backwards while driving? Its a joke and I use to get pulled over all the time when living in HI and CA.

Thankfully, in FL no front plate required, no income tax, and they repealed the helmet law, and smog checks!

Im surprised more states have not jumped on the bandwagon about smog checks. I remember buying my mom a new Caddy and the next month standing in line for a smog check thats ridiculous.

Thanks for the helpful comments. So far, it looks like the "enlightened" states are Indiana, Florida & Michigan.
If anyone has any suggestions about how to convince our legislature to adopt that program, I'd appreciate it. Thanks to David for that one.

Indiana has been rear plate only for as long as I can remember. I think our State Police at one time actually said that the front plate doesn't really help them in identifying vehicles anyway so they did not think it was necessary.

Ken: I don't think it's necessary- the Miata's (rear) tag reads "ENZO4RE", and is flanked by small FCA and FOC decals, so it'd probably be overkill!

I don't think you'll need a front plate in CA. But that may have changed.

License plates are not cheap in IN. It is a function of tax rates, not production cost of plates.

I had that prob in Colorado, which also req fr plate, and couldn't park my BMW (which didn't have stnd plate bracket either) on street without getting a parking ticket. Finally decided to just buck up and put a fr plate on by making custom bracket.

A similar idea failed here in MD, largely due to the opposition of the State Police. They argued that the lack of a front plate would make it tougher to identify miscreants. Having said that, I've never used a front tag on my Miata or either of the Ferraris, although one of the latter is titled in FL where there's no front tag.

Last week at the USGP, I noticed that Indiana vehicles don't have front plates. How many other states are that way? Since I'm at risk for a ticket with both the Ferrari & the C5, I'd like to know how we can eliminate them in Wa. State.
Was this done with an Initiative or by lobbying the State Legislature?
I know we've recently addressed on this forum how to deal with it, accept the occasional ticket or do various things to comply, but it would be better to eliminate them all together.
Although the manufacturing cost is minor per plate, it can add up when thousands are considered. One approach might be a decrease in cost to the states in an era of tight budgets everywhere.
Any suggestions on how to accomplish this for all us Ferrari & Vette drivers?
