Update: I changed to 10W40 Syntec and it still runs up to 100+ at high RPM. If it is an adjustment, why would it begin with an oil change. Is it possible that the new filter is not good? (Filter is stock brand & number) I am going to have to check some video of a high speed run that I did a few months ago to make sure I wasn't getting those numbers and not noticing with the Valvolene Racing oil I had in it. Thanks for the input. Sounds like I need to investigate further. Jim |

Interesting I have always run 60 psi max on all my NON-Ferrari race engines ... never had a problem even at 9000 rpm all day long Pete |

I run straight 50 weight in both the 512TRs. I am usually too busy to look at the oil pressure, as long as the light isnt red & the car is running well I press on, I cant remember the #s on the dial but its always within reason. The oil temp was getting out of control on my road 512TR so I added an oil cooler I bought at a hot rod shop. Water temp is usually good with no problems even when run very hard |

Robert: there is a spring with a different part number that reduces oil pressure a bit. Haven't tried it. Car is a '95 and has been to the track over 30 times in the last 2 years (he he he). General rule of thumb is that you want 10 PSI for every 1000 RPMs. So 90 PSI at 8500 is in the correct ball park. |

Jim, there is an oil pressure adjustment valve on my Boxer so I assume that there would be one on your TR as well. Be sure your gauge is correct first though . |

Mitch that seems like really high oil pressure. What year is your car? I thought on later 355's they reduced the oil pressure. |

Sounds high. My F355 runs 90 PSI at high RPMs at 265dF oil temp on the track with 15W40 and runs 95 PSI at 280dF with 20W50. On the street at 210dF both run 100-105 PSI at 3000 RPMs and above. |

Can somebody with TR track experience comment on oil pressures? I put 15W50 Mobil 1 in my car ('91 TR) and it now runs outside the recommended range of 65-92.5, even if I run a couple qts low. I am seeing almost 120 at over 6K revs, and below 50 at idle. Input would be appreciated. I don't want to blow any seals. Thanks, Jim (PS-Yes, this is a duplicate thread...) |
