Russell, I just got my 72 Dino 246GT (US model) registered without any testing whatsoever. The only fun was the DMV official checking the car VIN had a bit of trouble accepting the VIN locations as 'official'. I do remember that she noted it was a US emissions vehicle, although there was no smog test required. Furthermore, I would guess that any new law on exemptions would grandfather in any currently registered cars. Might make resale harder though. I read the DMV code many times before purchasing the out of state car, and I can say that no where is there any requirement that the 30year old plus exempt vehicle must be originally EPA/DOT certified. Though it wouldn't hurt to check with someone at the DMV at which you're going to get it registered at. |

I have a Euro 71 246 GT, it has no emissions on it and as far as I know, none is needed. Don't know about that other country, California. |

Jim, the reason I am concerned is because I have heard that California is thinking about moving the testing back to older cars. Also, California is currently not implementing the 25 year rule that should have started by now. |

California, which is most strict, does not require emissions testing for any care older than 1973. End of story. Jim S. |

if you are bringing it in now, NOTHING. it is more than 25 years old. pay your customs broker and duty and drive it home from the docks. piece of cake. HOWEVER, if your state has emissions testing, you will have to determine if also exempt for state purposes. |

I would like to know if anyone has a Euro 246 that has EPA/DOT paperwork, and what if any emissions equipment is on the car when it was federalized. I am trying to determine what a 1971 246 GT is required to have in order to be EPA/DOT certified. Any information would really be appreciated. |
