We have another

Fiat 850 Shellette By: Michelotti

This is your ideal car for summer fun at the beach!! Read on.....it gets very interesting!! No-door convertible, with an 850 cc 4-cylinder Fiat engine Arbarth tuned for maximum performance, 4-speed all-synchro manual transmission, finished in pink over a wicker interior, custom made by the picnic basket craftsmen of Rolls Royce! Aluminium / alloy wheels, AM/FM 8 track stereo, wipers, Nardi steering wheel, wood trim entry. This is one of 1,200 cars to be signed by the famous Italian Giovanni Michelotti. It really is quite unique and certainly a head-turner!!

Forgot to add to my post the 60's era Mercedes Unimog - almost bought a bright red mid 60's radio wagon version once, kept imagining dropping it off for service at the local MB dealership.

Bruce
I get the impression that there have been a couple of "Interesting" cars in your past.

Oddly enough I just met a mad man who converted his 1977 Honda Civic to run on batteries, damn thing takes 16 golf cart batteries and has a big electric motor where the engine should be. Some how he managed to mate that with the standard CVCC transmission.
Hey Bruce Want to sponsor this guy???

I think some of the "Soviet" era Tribants would have to be there only if I can get the EPA clearance. I understand the paint has so much lead in it that it qualifies for "Toxic waste Site" just sitting on the side of the road

We are overlooking the misappropriated engineering dollars that went into: Oldsmobile Silhouette, Pontiac Transport, Isuzu VehiCross, Hyundai Excel, Suzuki Swift and especially the Renault Le Car.

This is amazing!

I currently drive an X 1/9.

A friend of mine owns a very clean Citroen SM.

I had a g/f for about two years that owned a Cimmaron. I drove that thing into the ground.

I think I'm the oddity champ! :-)

Not really looking for the ONE OFF things that friends should have said "Step Away from the car..." to the people who created them. Just things that were honestly intended to be production efforts. the Cimmeron is a classic example of what happens when accountants design cars. Even the first gen PANOZ would qualify. but for Bubba and Zeek sitting down in the back Bog trying to figure out how to mount a Chevy Chassis under a Jag VDP (I saw it in Ontario) no
Just the things that were somewhat mass produced if not accepted.
Messersmit cars from the 50's or those funky British 3 wheel trucks Mr Bean is always going up against are more to the point

LOL Jim! You have correctly referred to it as one of those "element things."

For most of us on this board I think the way it looks in a reflection or from the outside is pretty imporant though! Probably most element drivers came close to buying an Aztek...

Come to think of it the Bertone Volvo needs to be there too

Isn't the Cizan that half Diablo/half Testarossa-looking car...? Throw one of those in there... Maybe a milked out, ready-for-the-track bug-eyed Sprite... An old VW bus with a wing on the back... Then find one of those Lamborghini LM002 trucks and toss one of those in there... How about a DeTomaso - either the Pantera or the other one with the gullwing boot... Maybe the one-off Ferrari 456 station wagon made for the Sultan of Brunei... i'll think of more as the day goes on...

Jay it was the Citroen SM, not a bad car by any standards, v comfortable and V quick (in period) and for a 4 seater you've just got to love the styling, just compare it to the stuff Ford Gm etc were churning out in the early 70's

I have been thinking about this for a long time and thought who better to ask but a bunch of car obsessed people...
If you could start a collection of cars, the only thing is they have to be Odd, off the wall or Failed attempts to go a different way.

What would you put in the collection??

I would start with a Bricklin (in Mclearn Orange) A blue Pacer, a couple of Vector's and a Fresh from the factory Aztek (easy to find one of those)
There would be a special place for that "HatchBack" Ferrari in "what is this car..."
One of the local collectors has what he calls the "Fabulous DLG" the only one in existance that he knows of. Looking for the weird Odd and misguided
Suggestions????
