LOL, they are all the same :-)

But I have to agree with her Sebring is the best view from the balcony at the Chateaux.

"your wife will hate you if you drag her 4 days out to Moroso. Moroso is God forgotten land in the middle of the Everglades, as you know. Last year we had snow flakes falling, go figure. I was huddling behind a police cruiser that was parked with the engine running."

Martin - nah, she'll just stay at the hotel. When I first met her, she would even come to early a.m. driver meetings AND take lap times. Now she comes (1) if the track is close to an area of interest (e.g., Laguna Seca/Carmel; Moroso/Palm Beach; maybe Road America/Kohler) and (2) for races only. She's only willing to go to Sebring if we get a room overlooking the hairpin, so she can watch from her balcony.

As for the snowflakes - sometimes I forget that Florida has winter ... have been to Summit Point in March for sessions on a plowed track surrounded by snow.

Thanks for the warehouse offer, if I take my wife to a track when it's snowing, I may need to live there for a while.

Will,
your wife will hate you if you drag her 4 days out to Moroso. Moroso is God forgotten land in the middle of the Everglades, as you know. Last year we had snow flakes falling, go figure. I was huddling behind a police cruiser that was parked with the engine running.

I can offer you guys a spot at the warehouse for a few days in case your carriers can not pick up immediately. Also don't forget that one week after is a one day track event at Moroso called Italia Fest through the Lambo club.

Guess I am quite the rookie, thanks again for all the advice. I completely missed the registration application in the recent Cavallino. Have now faxed my application for the Weds test + Thurs & Fri track days. Decided not to do Tues because 4 days at Moroso just seemed like too much - unless you guys strongly recommend it. Not so concerned about traffic - if the sport group is too crowded, I'll just park it & walk around to have a look at the cars!

Yes, the track event fills up quickly, and is always VERY crowded. In my opinion, that's the only real downside to Cavallino- the paddock at Moroso is so busy that you can hardly move once you exit the pit.
P.S.: Thanks, Crawford- I too like that picture, but should probably update my profile with a shot of my 348Ch.

Registration has been open for a few weeks and you might want to act now as the track spots tend to fill fast especially GT.

Thanks, all. Sounds like I need to call Intercity or HC right away. We'll also be staying at The Breakers.
When do they open registration for the track events?

I've been to all 13 Cavallino Classics, and my impression is that The Breakers folks are happy to have the cars (and their free-spending owners) there- they do post a guard in the Ferrari-only lot after dark. As for shipping, although I live in Baltimore I keep my track car in PB so I haven't used anyone in a while, but my several past experiences with Intercity have been very good. They (and Passport, Horseless Carriage, etc., etc.) are dropping off and picking up LOTS of cars at the hotel and at Moroso for days before and after the event.

I stay at the Breakers. They have a secure guarded lot for all the F-cars, or you can shtup Marco at the valet station a $50 and get a spot right in front of the entrance for the whole week, and they will keep it roped off for you. i have the car brought to the hotel on Tuesday and picked up Sunday. The hotel will even take care of watching the car for a few days in case you need to leave sunday but the transporter can't come until later. That happened to me last year, no problems.

This year I'm bringing my 360 Challenge car so it will have to be transported, but Classic Coach takes care of all that, including track maintenance. I will probably ship my street 360 down with Classic as well so i can get around. I then usually leave it there for the winter at Shelton Ferrari, as i go down every few weeks to see my folks. Try to register early for the Tuesday/Wednesday (Monday/Tuesday?) track events (they are small and fill up quickly). The Thursday/Friday events are fun, but very crowded.

Email me if you need more detail

Solly - thanks for the reply. If FoW isn't going, I'll try one of the two services you've mentioned. Do you simply have them drop the car off at the track the day before the event? When do they pick it up? Concerned both about timing/logistics and security.

I've been there twice and am going again. i have used both Intercity and Horseless Carriage, and both were excellent. Intercity a good deal cheaper.
Definitely do the track days.

Lashdeep - Also coming from DC area. Hope to see you there, or at this weekend's track event at Summit?

Will, I'm most probably driving down from DC this year for the event. Not sure if I'll track since it's pretty expensive compared to others...but it is a nice event.

Where are you coming from?

My wife and I are considering attending this event in '04. Should I make a point of the track days? If so, how have East Coast folks transported cars to Florida - look for a dealership that is attending & taking customer cars? I have an enclosed trailer and could tow, but would prefer to "arrive and drive." I have raced at Moroso, and so at least am familiar with the slow line around the track. Thanks, Will
