Check out the November issue of Consumer Reports. There is a comparison report on ultra high performance tires. Rob, Consumer Reports agrees with your asessment of Yoko's as being great in the dry but average in the wet.

I have the S03PP's on my 328, but I wouldn't call them "all season" tires -- they get pretty hard when ambient drops below 40degF.

The Bridgestones' rounded profile give them a feel that some drivers don't much like -- they feel like they have more contact patch in turns than in the straights. (They feel over-inflated.)

I've been impressed with the Yoko A-046s on my EVO, so I might try AVSs next set on the 328, although the Bridgestones would probably last more miles total. (Unless they age out first.)

The interesting new entry is the Yoko AVS-es100. Early reports rate their handling better than the AVS sports, and they're a _lot_ lower price -- under $350 for a full set for the 328 from tirerack versus $580+ for the S03s.

Goodyear Eagle F1 DS-G3 like Dave328GTB.
Inexpensive, very good, top rating in Consumer Reports. Available at Discount tire. Set of 4 (225/45R17 and 255/40R17), mounted, balanced, road hazard for $770, cheaper than Tire Rack.

A great value for a dry street tire, but not great in the rain is the Yoko AVS Sports.

I have pilot sports on my M3 and S03's on the 328. I'm getting rid of the sports soon. They are hard and very noisy once worn a little. However, I'm going to try the goodyear F1's this time.

I have Pilot Sports 225/45/17 on my Audi S4 and I don't find them convincing at all. Grip is not impressive on the dry, and very slippery on the wet. Conti's or Bridge's are much better on that car.
Never run anything else than the OEM S01s on my 355, excellent on the dry.

I run Bridegstone S0-3 on my current Esprit after running Michelin Pilot Sports on my previous Esprit. Personally I think the S0-3's are much better in the dry as they don't break away so suddenly and marginally better in the wet.

I loved the Pilot Sports on my car...the wet traction was simply unbelievable. That being said, I replaced with S03s and can say that they are equal in performance for me in the dry, perhaps a touch better in the wet.

Funny, but I think there's something to that. The Bridgestone Pole Positions are absolutely amazing in the wet, and they are still damned good in the dry. Note that the SO2's are different than the SO2 Pole Positions (which have been replaced by the SO3 Pole Positions).

FWIW, I have SO3's on both my sportscars, prematurely replacing their original Pirellis and Michelins as I didn't like them.

OTOH, I have heard nothing but great things about the Pilot Sport *Cup* tires... and maybe some of that has rubbed off on the normal Pilot Sport tires since the last time I had them.

From watching F1 this year, Michellin in the dry, Michellin in the semi-wet, and Bridgestone in the full wet.
