DES - you're in for a treat (I hope you like to eat). I'm not saying anything more - just show up hungry.

I admit that my mouth is watering just thinking about po-boys and muffalettas.

Take pictures of everything and watch out for the she-males at one end of Bourbon!

You forget that we are miles from the Gulf of Mexico. If you like seafood this is the place to be. I reckon that us here country bumpkins can swing a good meal or two when we get round to it:-)

DES,
YOU DON"T KNOW WHAT A PO BOY IS!!! Simple bread and whatever sandwich. Usually shrimp is the best. The food over there is like no other. If spicy stuff is your thing there is nothing like cajun cooking. What about crawfish?

Hey Joe, don't forget drive-through Daiquiri shops! People just seem to have a hard time understanding that one! LOL!

Dale, you sure have a positive outlook. A fairly rare commodity in todays day and age. ROCK-ON BROTHER!! You may have a few years on me,(I just made 33 years 2 weeks ago),but I've been known to hold my own with the "old farts" a time or two. :-) LOL! We'll have to show everybody how it's done when the beads start flying and the breasts start showing Sat night on the Bourbon Street balcony!!

Again, I look forward to meeting all y'all Thurs night!

DES,

Make sure you go to Verti Mart on Royal (or Central Grocery on Decatur) at least twice a day for po-boys and muffalettas. You need to keep your strength up :-)

I am almost positive that you can't get either of those beautiful creations in NYC.

One of my favourite memories of N.O. was asking a bartender when last call was in his fair city. He looked at me like I had just stepped off a space ship and said, "When everyone leaves."

>>Whoa! Watch out Dale, you're dating yourself a little there with the Allman Bros in the Warehouse HAHA!<<

You know Dave, one of the nice things about being an old fart with some history is that, well, I don't feel the need for history to repeat itself.

Over a year ago, I turned 50, and I loved it. I'm not much of a birthday person. I can't remember my 30th. My 40th got screwed up cause my mother went into the hospital. (She's fine now.) But, turning 50 was actually cool. Never thought I'd see the day. Lord knows, did some pretty dumb things along the way. But on my 50th, I was dropping my daughter off for freshman orientation at a Ivy League college. For someone who never attended a day of private school, who would have ever thunk that I'd have a daughter smart enough to go to a hoity-toity school? Now all I have to do is survive my 16-year old son, and I will have it made in the shade.

So for all you young bucks out there, come on down to New Orleans and party with us old farts. We are proof positive that you too can achieve your dreams. Or, well, at least most of them cause you never quit dreaming.

Whoa! Watch out Dale, you're dating yourself a little there with the Allman Bros in the Warehouse HAHA! :-) Unfortunately, I came of age just in time to see it's demise. :-(

DES, I'm ready! I have to go pick up the centerpieces fot the Sun banquet (1:18 Ferrari's!) tomorrow. Just a few loose ends to tie up but we'll be ready come thurs night!

Dave

Dale,
I saw some pretty rough stuff last time I was there but I'm sure it gets alot worse. We can drop DES off with the bikers:-). I'm only on my sophomore visit here so I am more than willing to follow the veterans. I think the main thing I can't forget is that one certain puke smell only found on Bourbon Street after a long wet weekend. It still makes me cringe.

Matt/DES, jus remember dat be dealing with the real pro party types you. So be cool. Indeed, if you really wanta see the low side of life, there're some biker bars out by the airport that I can take you to. On second thought, you can take a cab, if you can get a cabbie who will take you there.

Actually, I'm looking forward to it. As a Gulf Coast Cracker Boy, I've been to New Orleans on many occasions. Watching Joe Namath destory the Aints. Seeing the Allman Bros at the Warehouse are memories that come to mind. However, most of my memories revolve around being in the gutter looking up at the balconies. I think that I'm gonna really enjoy looking down from the balconies for a change, ha!

I'm sure they can find some craziness in the city where craziness runs wild. I've been to Bourbon Street but you really are going to have to check it out just to say you went there. John,
I spent a few hours there last time I was in town. Loud and clear on the VIP room....I know how those places work. It's definitly a nice place though. DES, just dress casual. The weather is nice right now but it may be a little chilly this weekend. You might need the furry speedo to keep warm.

John, the weather was actually a big concern of mine since i spoke with a friend today and asked her what the weather's like down there; she said it rains a lot and i've been wondering what the weather would be like once i got down there... Glad to hear it looks good... i had no idea what to bring - long sleeves, short sleeves, heavy leather jacket, thong, etc.... If you're saying the report looks good, i think i'll go home and pack my speedo... :-)

Matt and DES,

If you are going to hit up the strip clubs Rick's is the only way to go. Just don't waste your time trying to go VIP in there unless they have the upstairs open. Otherwise its worthless.

The weather forcast looks awesome, so this is going to be a spectacular weekend!

We might have to check out Rick's Cabaret...I'm sure the locals can agree with me on that one. Probably similiar to the Crazy Horse. I got the cell up and running so give me a call tonight. I still need to get directions to the hotel and all kinds of stuff.

We need to get the plans set up and everything for when I need to pick you up at the airport. I'm going to be leaving Pensacola early in the morning to make room for any chance I get lost. I really look forward to meeting and partying with everyone there. As I have said many times this is my first up close and personal so I think my brain may overload when I get there. Wade, i'm looking forward to meeting you, as well... i'm not sure what a pastie is; how similar is it to a pastry...? i don't wanna put the wrong thing in my mouth... :-)

Martin, getting together again would've certainly been really cool - but i don't think there's a Crazy Horse in Nawlins, what would we do...? :-)

Up in the air to last minute but the final verdict came. My car was not ready still sitting with the engine out at the shop and the truck left Wednesday.
Having to go on shiort notice to Germany last weekend did not further the cause.
I will make it next year. Sure thing.

Would have loved to hang with DES again and meet some new people. Wade, after many times talking to each other. Seeing Roland again and maybe bumming a ride in the famous F40LM. Meeting the NO crew, the boys that own the entire darn town and get to play on the streets at high speeds.

You guys have fun. Say hi to Ray for me in the yellow Enzo. Tell him, Martin says he hates you!

I was down in the French Quarter last year for a friends wedding, You have to go to Cafe DuMond, and have some Beignets (pr. Benyeh); Here is the lowdown:
"The Scene --- It's no wonder this venerable New Orleans classic is included as a "must-see" in every city guidebook. Its sidewalk location in the French Quarter, where it's been since 1862, is a perfect spot to watch the world go by at any time of the day or night. White-jacketed servers gingerly navigate between crowded tables both inside and on the patio, and street musicians often set up nearby.

The Food
Really short and really sweet: beignets (fried, rectangle-cut donuts covered in confectioners' sugar) and delicious, exceptionally strong cafe au lait (dark-roasted coffee cut with chicory, to take out the bitterness, and blended with 100 percent whole milk). Black coffee and iced coffee are also available, as are fresh-squeezed orange juice, white and chocolate milk, and soft drinks."

MMMMMM donuts. Doh, "they're not donuts you silly american" (sd in a snide french accent by one of the local staff... lol) Awesome w/some fresh brewed coffee, Great people, places and sights and sounds. Can't begin to tell you how much fun I had.

One of our new sponsors will be bringing Shuey's F1 car from last year. It will be on display at the Concorso. This and the track day will be open to the public, for a small fee going to charity. For more info see Ferrarifrenchquarterclassic.com

Oh and DES. In the competition class we will have 4 333SPs, and 2 360 GT along with half a dozen challenge cars. We have confirmation that one of the 360GT cars is being outfitted with a second seat, and Eric VDP, and Anthony Lazzaro, are bringing their helmets, to try to break the track record in the 333sps and the 360GTs. They will also give rides to a few VIPS. (So make sure you bring that new helmet of yours because there is an empty seat for you! You just need to ask yourself "do you feel lucky" Oh, and brave enouph to race around the track in a 360GT with a former F1 driver?????)

DES, we have many many of the Ferrari Supercars coming (driven by guys who really know how to drive) So, if you'd ever dreamed of riding in a 288, F40, F50 and Enzo back to back, you might have a chance!

Jordan, i'm very intrigued by your statement, "try some pastries"... No, i've never been to Nawlins but you're the second person that's said that to me... i LOVE pastries...! Are they really that much better than anything i'll find up here in NY...?

Byron, i'm not banking on anything but a ride in Enzo around the track looks very promising...!

i actually just got off the phone with Marcus from Player's Run - very cool guy, i can't wait to meet him and see Roland again... This is gonna be the event of a lifetime...! Someone call my boss if i don't come back...! :-)

This time next week, i'll have already touched down in New Orleans and will hopefully be mingling with the 'Nawlins' folks... i'm looking forward to meeting a lot of wonderful people and seeing some truly awesome cars...

If it weren't for John Houghtaling and the help of Kelly Vince, this wouldn't be possible... i'm going to buy my helmet tomorrow - might even get a ride in a 550 on the way! (i'm so spoiled...!)

i just wanted to round up a final list of who's going... Anyone else i don't know about...? i know Matt LaMotte will be there, i'm looking forward to hooking up with him... Anyone else...?
