You have the ability to utilize vacuum metallization and powder coating to make over 60 shades of chrome finish on an aluminum wheel. Also, should you desire, the finish can be stripped away and the wheel can be refinished to appear stock. The chrome finish will come with a 3 year warranty and cost about $175.00 per wheel + plus shipping (to CA, USA)

Jim, you could try bead blasting them then powder coating, or sell the chrome wheels and buy some proper ones

Looking online at a 328 with chromed wheels. Was wondering if you wanted to take the wheels back original can you? Would they just powdercoat over the chrome or strip the chrome off? If so how?

I was thinking you would lose wheel detail with an original layer, chrome layer then powdercoat layer. Also, might flake off.
