>>The 360 is one of PF's greatest achievements, IMHO!<< I agree, Brian. Stunning design, yet practical and efficient. One of PF's all-time bests! |

"I saw some photos of this car last night at the Ferrari club meeting from a marketing booklet. Directly from the side, it looks loooooooooong!!!" Automobile magazine says the wheelbase is 116 inches, longer than a Cadillac Escalade. Weight is stated at 4056 Same issue reviews the E55 AMG, which stops 1 foot faster than a Range Rover and 1 of the 4 reviewers had his engine fail at 600 miles. Seems Mercedes is preserving its position as being below all American car companies in vehicle dependability. Give me the 612 any day. The sides do look a bit too Z-4ish for me and the rear looks identical to the Maserati but I will reserve judgement till I see on in person. |

The 456, and soon the 612, is by design a Ferrari 2+2 GT. It is meant for the supporters who adore Ferrari, but need a 2+2 GT. It is the only choice on this planet. That is why it sells at a hefty premium. That is the whole point.

I think it is a gorgeous car recalling some of Ferrari's past. It really looks like a two seater- I think that was a very cleaver design. |

a cl600 over a 612? well they just released the cl65 amg and that is a serious ferrari killer, but it's still not a ferrari. i really don't think the car looks that bad. but is every new ferrari going to have the F1 gear box now? before i always thought it was just for the racing versions, but now it's in a 2+2. i've heard it's more fun to have a stick if you don't plan to track your car though. |

i like its look but question the market ferrari is trying for with this type of car. the amg sl is my benchmark for these types of heavy, fast, status cars. i dont see how can f hopes to compete with them when it comes to practicality, service, treatment at dealer, etc. are there really enough buyers willing to spend 2x the amg while giving up all of above and loose convert hard top for the f mystique? my opinion is to stay with pure sports cars where buyers are willing to spend premium for f and leave gt to maserati |

John Absolutely agree that a Ferrari 2+2 should be a tossable fun car that doubles as a Grand Tourismo. While sometimes I wish my back seats were a little bigger, the power and balance of my car was terrific on the back roads of Europe combined with some serious road trip and daily use ability. Use to take drives through Germany with the family just for the experience. It's all about balance and using the whole car...passionately. best to all rt

Thank for posting the pics. I kind of like it, has that retro look. Like anything that Ferrari has done, it will take time for others to accept the new body style. When the 348 came out, I didn't like them. But I grown to like that design now.

Funny how we can disagree soooo whole-heartedly here: > It's better looking than the 360, at least, which is one of PF's lowest points IMHO. The 360 is one of PF's greatest achievements, IMHO! As a toned down F50, he managed to do the seemingly impossible: keep the lines and beauty of the F50, but in a much less radical design, while simultaneously obeying the demands of aerodynamics. BUT, we can agree soooo whole-heartedly here: > Too bad it's so durn big, though. I would really rather have a 3000 lb Ferrari with > less interior space, fewer gadgets, and a 400 hp front-mounted V12 than a 4500 lb > one with 540 hp or whatever. [...] There's no reason at all that Ferrari's four-seater > should be any bigger than a BMW 3er, and there's absolutely no excuse for the weight. I agree... its a Ferrari, dammit.... NOT a Maserati. Now you might excuse them if they didn't own Maserati and the market for an expensive M5 was much bigger than for an expensive M3... but they DO own Maserati, they can put the big 4-seater or 5-seater in that line, and then keep the Ferrari what its supposed to be... a sportscar first! So rather than trying to appeal to the same market as their Maseratis, they *could* have been going after the market that needs 4 seats, but is willing to compromise comfort in those to get as much performance as possible. For that market, there's not much choice beyond the 911. With the more radical variation (the published drawings), at about 3400 pounds, I think they could've had something special... in a market by itself. Oh well. |

It's better looking than the 360, at least, which is one of PF's lowest points IMHO. Too bad it's so durn big, though. I would really rather have a 3000 lb Ferrari with less interior space, fewer gadgets, and a 400 hp front-mounted V12 than a 4500 lb one with 540 hp or whatever. I really think that someone at Ferrari needs to spend some serious seat time in a 330 2+2 before they design the next four-seater. That car wasn't all that pretty but it was everything a four-seat Ferrari should be in terms of performance, size, tossability, etc. There's no reason at all that Ferrari's four-seater should be any bigger than a BMW 3er, and there's absolutely no excuse for the weight. |

Bart, I suggest you think about having the 'snip' as kids are not your cup of tea, er, atleast sharing the fun parts of life with them. I personally could not bring myself to buy a 2 seater sports car and drive off with a big grin ... leaving the kids behind. What sort of Dad would I be!. A selfish one thats what. Toys are great, but sharing them is even better. And no car that has over 500hp is for a wuss. Pete |

Aside from the bull frog front end I think the exterior is fine. The interior on the other hand looks like it was inspired by a tug boat engine room. |

Regardless of wuss status - anyone with a family needs a 4 seater Ferrari. Unless Bart is implying those with families should force the spouse to drive with child(ren) to events in a seperate car. |

Those headlights look too Panoz for my taste - but I'll wait to see one in person before I make a final call. I was a little let down when I initially saw the Tokyo pics of the Enzo, but completely blown away in person. |

I find it strange that they'd debut the car in blue. I think it would look much better in silver tones. It could use larger wheels though. |
