Mikeg,

Thanks for the backgrounder for this newbie Farrerichatter. Guess I'll go out and buy some shoulder pads.

Mr. Wellington,

When Mike Wallace's son worked at NBC, a grizzled cirector once called him "Chris' on the set. The young wallace said "Call me Mr. Wallace." The director replied: "Mr. Wallace works at CBS. Your name is Chris."

Cheers all.....

Shocking, the insurance company would not pay, they do not pay for anything.

I do think it would clear up a bit of dust if there was clarification as to what happened at the outset (and so forth) of the alleged incident. It's not every day a stallion is taken for a ride with 2 riders and the lead guy gets thrown off.

[Scene: Kasey Kasem sits on a stool in front of the camera.]

Kasem: Good evening, I'm Kasey Kasem, and tonight, we're going to take a look at a special group of people, FerrariChatters who have united for a cause. It all started when veteran Ferrari Chatter Bruce "Otis Day" Wellington took a look at the popular web group, FerrariChat.com, and was appalled by what he found.

Bruce aka Otis: IT WAS AWFUL. EVERYONE IN THE GROUP WAS WHISPERING AMONGST THEMSELVES. WELL, I HAD TO DO SOMETHING. THESE ARE MY KIND OF PEOPLE - FERRARI ENTHUSIASTS. I PUT THE ENTHUSIASM INTO IT, IF YOU CAN DIG IT.

Kasey: I understand you have a Backup Group which was assembled...

Bruce aka Otis: BACKUP, NOTHIN'. THEY'RE THE KNIGHTS AND SOME OF 'EM EVEN RIDE STALLIONS.

Kasem: Well, there you have it. The name of the group is FerrariChat.com. Let's listen to their song...

Well.....................I feel all right-SHOUT!
You know you make me want to (SHOUT)
Throw my hands back and (SHOUT)
Throw my head back and (SHOUT)
Kick my heels up and (SHOUT)-Come on now...

Morrie - good luck with that one. Bruce's SHOUTING has been pointed out to him numerous times - and it has no effect on it - this SHOUTING appears to be a permanent medical condition. e.g.
http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/132929/312658.html?1063758045

He likes to shout (although he claims he isn't).

All that you will get from pointing this SHOUTING out to Bruce is a swarm of BRUCYTES jumping all over you with responses that even include calling you a handicap hater (even though Bruce himself states he is not handicapped - his friends say he is and attribute his shouting to this condition.) This will be followed by 10 posts to Bruce from same said sycophants with the battle cry of "don't ever change Bruce" "we love you Bruce" "Bruce you are my hero" etc. Finally, Bruce will respond to you with "I dont give a rats ass what you think" and "I know who my friends are."

But ultimately this will pass. You will read his posts (although it will pain you to do so) and then you will learn - as I did - that he seems to be a very nice guy and is well liked on this board. (to this note he will say "Mike, I don't give a rats ass that you think I seem to be a nice guy")

Just saving us all some time here. :-)

Welcome to the board Morrie and very nice ride!

Mr. Wellington,

It is customary and polite to use upper and lower case when sending internet messages. Using all caps is known as "shouting." The practice is troubling to readers and is discouraged in all but rare cases.

Bruce, ask William if he had a goot time at TWS this past weekend!

Jeff, you are a helluva driver!!!! I know Pierre (not well, but I know him), and I know you got a good motor if it came from him. And, boy, are you putting it to good use!

Congratulations on your recent victories!!!

And regardless of who's right & wrong regarding the F50 situation, I am sorry for the hassle and angst it must have caused your family. I know Algar well, having grown up in that area & gone to a local college whose name ends in "ford". Every time we come back to visit my family, I stop by Algar!!

Hey, "spanky", is your FC handle related to your one-man love life?

And didn't YOUR mama ever tell you to learn the f'cking difference between "their" and "there" before criticizing someone else's post?

How's the weather down in Houston, anyway, "spanky"? Owe anybody any money? Such as a certain race track, perhaps? Ever hear of Pinnacle Motorshorts, er, Motorsports?

Bruce,
Looks like Mr, Segal (rightfully) spanked you good...Didn't your mama ever tell you not to sh*t where you eat? Your statements, true or untrue, do not speak very highly of your respect for the Algar organization, which...may I remind you, have praised on numerous occassions. IMO, Algar is the finest Ferrari dealer in the country and it is truly unfortunate what has happened their. Certainly the outcome of this theft is their business, not yours.

Respectfully,

Spanky

It makes sense that the insurance company wouldn't pay. I worked at an Acura dealer, and if we didn't have some verification of who was in the car and that they were over 18, and if something happened, the dealer was left to hang out to dry. Are insurance companies more understanding and lenient on $700k exotics?

Obviously, the question has come up in F-Chat, let alone other boards as a topic, and will no doubt do so time and time again.

Care to shed any light on what actually happened?
This isn't a question of dollars and cents, which aren't anybody's business - rather - clearing the air of any urban myths.

Jeffery, it will come to an end if you tell us the real story.

But I bet you can't do that.

So the web remains a place were people come together to chat. The water cooler might not be the most factualy place to get information, but most of web-chat is just entertainment... and we all know that.

It's amazing how much misinformation can be posted here, and most of the time people don't even question it. Mr Wellington, I'm not sure who you are or where your information comes from, but you should recheck your sources. I can assure you that whether or not the insurance company is paying or how much they are paying is NOT public information, nor will it be. Your assertions about test drive procedure are completely unfounded, and you are entirely out of line in acting as an expert on this situation. The bottom line is that Mr. Wellington does not know the details of the situation, and as such he is not qualified to make the statements that he is making. I hope that this speculation and misinformation can come to an end soon...

If you are curious in what happens to the car from here, read this article:

http://www.ferraris-online.com/Articles/SCM_0205.html

And I really feel for the guys over there, a $700K car is a lot to miss.

I thought the man was just going for a test ride. I thought he was only allowed to go for a ride with the salesman driving not him. I was under the assumption that the buyer convinced the salesman to let him drive once they already left. I didn't know you needed id to ride. But I have no clue.

Oh dang. Insurance won't cover it? That is a rought bitter pill to swallow. Not that I don't see the insurance companies' point, but what an expensive lesson. That's too bad.

Santini - probably an ego thing. Just like all the valuable art work that is stolen just so some idiot can have it in their collection. They don't intend to sell it or put it on exhibit, they just know they have it.

Also, it was mentioned earlier that some countries make it very easy to register a car without proof of ownership. Even if you find the car you'd have to get cooperation out of the other country's law enforcement. Chances are the new 'owner' has contacts in high places so they aren't worried about it. The big thing will be when the car is to change hands again, or end up in another country more willing to work with U.S. authorities. I can also imagine how much it would cost to go through all the legal hoops, etc in a foreign country. The car is a $700k car, so maybe this case will be a litmus test.

Then again, the owner of Algar can sell the movie rights...

This is probably a stupid question but, whoever has possession of the car now, how will they ever get parts for it? They'll never be able to drive/sell/part/show it, so what's the point?

I haven't seen to much in this topic area but I'm curious. A co-worker told me that a new Ferrari was stolen from a dealer near here (S/E PA). He said it happened on a test drive. Is it true or urban legend? If true, DETAILS????
