I'll be racing across the San Mateo bridge from my auto-cross event to try and catch you guys before you leave the Ritz. (Maybe not at 165mph like Lox does it. :-) )

I'll be in touch with Lox/Faisal via mobile phone to coordinate. I may catch you guys on the road afterwards or definitely at the BBQ in Palo Alto later on.

See you all then!

Cheers,

John

PS Thanks Faisal, I look forward to the ride!

Faisal,

Looks like we have a little over a dozen people, with about 10 cars? Say a Dozen cars and a few more for the table. Go ahead and make the call.

Julian,

It would be great to fly by you at 147 mph on Sunday. Can't wait.

You gotta hang out with us.

I knew I was missing all the good action from not logging onto ferrarichat in a while. Is this on Sunday or Saturday? I hope Lox's muffler spits out bread crumbs for me to follow cause I can't keep up with him :-)

Yes, guys, I need a headcount to arrange for parking up front if possible (they're a bit touchy about it--something about all those arthritic old golfers needing to load up in their SUVs) and also for b'fast reservations (required). I will put in the call late tomorrow unless you want to do it, Dan?

8.30 am

OK - the meeting place is 92 & Canada road. If you are coming via 280, take the Canada / Edgewood Road exit and go west (turn left if you were on 280N, and right if you were on 280S). Go down the straight road to the end of the T, and at the stopsign make a right. Go down the windy road (which is Canada) and you'll see us out there at the end before 92.

If you are taking 92W (from 101, east bay, etc.), then go on 92W PAST 280, all where it then has a 'freeway ending' sign as well as a reduced speed sign. There will be a stoplight immediately afterwards (just after 280), which is always green, except the left turn light, which is always red. Make a left there, and you will see us.

I will have my mobile on. Can we please confirm headcount?

Let's stick with 8:30AM. 8:00AM is crazy early. 8:30 is pretty bad too. You are coming from Healdsburg! We're talking atleast 40 minutes at my speed.

I've invited a bunch of my crew and most people have complained about how early its gonna be. Let's stick with 8:30 and try not to confuse anyone anymore.

I spoke with Alexandra and she will be attending...so therefore it seems that my car will have reached maximum occupancy for the trip.

Since this is a morning gig, it makes sense that most people might plan on doing the morning breakfast and then run off and do something else during the day. If anyone would be interested, we can do a bbq at my house in the afternoon. (John, are you listening?) I would hope that it would be nice in Palo Alto by lunchtime. Don't feel obliged to bring marinated meats in the morning. If we do decide to do the BBQ, we'll make a run to a local supermarket and stock up on whatever catches each participant's fancy.

(For those who don't know, my car is RHD).

Dan,

My weekend is up in the air at the moment so I'm playing it by ear. I'm going boating one day and auto-crossing early Sunday morning. (Hey, I have to go for that trophy..)

I can make a BBQ on Sunday around 11-12ish if I finish auto-crossing quickly enough. Breakfast on Saturday *maybe* depending on when we shove off from San Mateo.

In any case, I'd love to drive all weekend on quality roads with everyone! There's just nothing like it.. until track day. ;)

Cheers,

John

ROFL Lox! Don't we all make that prayer every night? {not touching the viagra with a 10-foot pole though... no pun intended...}

I'm in guys, though I'll need an exotic's shotgun seat to climb into (stupid ins companies..)

I'll also see if Alexandra can come again! ;) She had a great time last run.

Art- Not to be too forward, but I've got some seat time in a Dutchess if you're looking for an otherwise unskilled lump to right-seat ;)

Hopefully the weather will hold.

Best!

Hey there!

Great drive guys, I had a lot of fun. I think I'll have to wear a Lotus shirt for Lox next time.

I'm most likely going to be boating on Saturday but I'll come along if the weather doesn't hold.

If I do come along, I'll make sure to bring some safety pins for Loxadontus. :-)

Faisal: I say make the reservations for 9. No way in hell it will take us 30 minutes to get from there to the Ritz.

Actually, a few members have asked if we make it a bit earlier due to family obligations. How about we meet at 8 for breakfast at 8.30?

Yea, I'll be rolling out on this one. Fortunately at that time there won't be too much traffic on 92, but I love how it serves up lots of double yellows for as far as the eye can see (over the hill).

So it seems like we'll have another good crew for this one. I figure we'll finish breakfast and then be ready for some real driving. I'll have some choice roads to recommend.

I'll have to go to Mass on Saturday night to pray for hot asphalt, sticky tires, and unobservant CHP officers.

Ok - so are we going to the Ritz, or are we going over to the Cafe?

Why don't we do this: we can meet at 92 & Canada road (just west of 280), like we planned to last time. THen we'll head over to the Ritz.

Let's say this: 8.30 @ 92 & Canada Road. We should make it to the Ritz by 9.15, assuming that we have minimal traffic and a little time for yacking. How does that sound to everyone?

Faisal: I agree, it would be fun to drive to Stinson, but today is getting pretty blustery, and by the beach up North, who knows. BTW, yeha yeah, HMB, ok?? :-)

It's getting kinda chilly, so I was thinking of changing it to an indoor thing too. Want to do this on Sunday morning instead of the Stinson beach thing on Sunday afternoon?

Looking like Sunday. Gather at the marina green around 11. Drive to Stinson--get there by 12. Bbq till 1.30 or so, then nice drive or head straight back.

Forecast is mostly sunny, but bring a sweatshirt or jacket just in case. Maybe that nice maroon one you have with the prancing horse Lotus logo on it!

Norm: Whenever you're ready! I found the Ritz (very very easy) - we just go up to 1 and then head south, right on Miramontes Point or whatever. Lots of signage.

Lotus gang is planning on driving to Stinson Beach this weekend and having a BBQ...you guys interested in joining in? Around noon on Saturday, ending around 5pm, or we could do it earlier on Sunday. Let me know if you have a date preference. We will meet at the Marina green.

Norm, you could head back earlier...can you spare 3 hours or so? The drive is just as long and nice as the HMB drive.

I took a drive in my 348ts this past Friday, from Hollister to Watsonville down hwy 1 past San Simion over to Paso Robals. I returned to Hollister via 101. Friday was an excellent day for driving with the top off on the curves of hwy 1. I highly recommend it to any of the Bay Area drivers that want the thrills of speeding along a costal highway that is both scenic and exciting!

Ben, thankfully, no orange crayons today! You were DEFINETLY the man today! That route has to be the best drive I've been on...absolutely LOVELY. Gorgeously scenic, brilliantly mixed (tight twistings to fast switchbacks to long sweepers to massive straights). Redwood forests, brilliant hills, forested rivers, sunshine peering throught he trees above, darkness, and then tbe absolute beauty of 1 and Mendocino along 1 on a clear day like there.

We've said it before, but there is NO better place in the world to live than CA, with everything considered!

I can vouch for 'north of 140' allright! Damn that car is fun!

Cop never could have caught us anyway. And we were just passing slower traffic (legal to temporarily exceed speed limit doing that, right?! :-)

There's nothing to tell - I was in the lead passing a car, Vincent behind me, everyone behind him - cop was my oncoming traffic - at least when i passed it was dotted yellow, and when Ben looked at my speedo, it was...well...definetly north of 140 ;)

Guys,

I dont' even know how to describe just how much absolute fun that was! Between my stupid wire-cutting, passing under judicious double yellow (no, nothing dangerous there), Faisal taking the lead, LOX!

LOX! LOX LOX LOX! Ben's stllar routes, vincent keeping the pace I like! Ed's glorious sounding Esprit, Lox's even better sounding Esprit sans tail pipes.

LEt's not forget passing a cop under dotted lines (ahem) at 140+! Yeah!

It was a great pleasure to meet all the new peple, and always good to see the old crew.

Just checked my mail...I live in one of two places in the country where mail is delivered on Sundays and it looks like I'll finally have plates soon!

That's for sure.

It was great to see everyone again. The drive was awesome!!!! Thanks for doing the legwork Ben.

The part through the Redwoods was absolutely one of the best drives I have ever done.

What a day!

here are some pics. Don't worry...Faisal took most of them. I had both hands on the wheel, no other choice with this group.

Hey gang... please do not forget daylight saving time. Yes, it happens 2:00 am Sunday morning. You get an additional hour of sleep.

Still on? Everybody's very quiet.

I'm planning on meeting you guys at 101 and river rd. at the north end of Santa Rosa. There is a movie theater there on the north side of river rd. right when you get off. I'll be there. Somebody better show up :-)!

If you guys are leaving around 9, I'll be there around 9:30 or so. Art, dan, and Ben have my cell, give me a call tomorrow.

Vincent.
