Hello to Gian Maria from Boulder Colorado! I was in Italy at the same time Gian Maria was. One evening, near the Ferrari factory in Maranello, he gave me a quick ride in the Stradale. The sound, speed, braking and handling are very impressive. By the way, Gian Maria mentioned to me that just after he took the dashboard photo he got another 100 rpm out of the car.

Gian- I run my own dedicated mail server, so I set no limits on file attachments!

If you like, you can e-mail me the photos and then I can put them up on www.dreamns.com/ferrarichat for all to access.

Dan- Yeah, we'll throw some tail numbers on the 550! 28R is 11,000feet long, but I bet the 777s at SFO would get ornery {they just don't understand!} The 550 is one of the few cars that will bust 180 in a hurry.

Jake- scary as hell! There's a point at which you stop feeling like a car (that can turn, stop, etc. should an obstruction come up) and start feeling like a bullet.

More fun to do 90 through a turn marked 35 anyway :D)

Best!
Ben.

PS: anyone noticed that in 6th the speedo and tach are exactly in sync with each other? Cool little detail Ferrari!

Gian,
That's amazing! Congratulations on the car... spending some time with Dario B. on the track must have been a great experience as well.

I had no idea the stripe can be applied as a sticker after delivery. I was under the impression that the stripe was staged during the painting process and cannot be removed.

If you get a chance, please let me know how I can get a copy of the original photo, in high resolution. I may be reached by email: [email protected]

Thanks!

Ben, what's for lunch? I had a friend(cop), "chauffer me" in my Viper up to ~186mph. When he slowed it to 90mph, it felt like you could get out and walk. That kind of speed is scarey.

to paul:
The interior is and looks like alcantara, the car is completly unsonarized ( I mean you hear everything is goin on outside) even the sign light noise sounds like it is amplified ... I love the look of the welding and the steel floor and the ton of carbonfiber. My wife does not understand why I changes the leather interior with radio and Cd changer of the Modena with this naked interior...
The car feels faster at 6000 rpm where it gets the extra HP. The sound of the engine also amplifies your feeling of going faster, but the feeling that is clearly improved is the handling and the bracking. the brakes sounds like when you have used gone pads on a regular disk, and the brake paddle is harder than the modena but if you step on it hard the car stops suddenly like no other car I have tried. The same day I have tried the maseraty trophy which is a completly racing carand the feeling of the two cars was very similar exept on the bracking where the stradale is defently superior.

Gian, that's pretty impressive... driving 295 kph and taking a perfect photo of the dash. Were you also drinking a Pepsi and eating a McDonald's hambuger at the same time... steering with your knee? :-)

Great car!

Gian,

I am thinking of ordering the stripe on mine. Who installed the stripes for you? I thought that the stripe was hand painted.

That's fricking awesome! I'd like that pic in 8x10 and signed, please!

For those of you talking 'only' 180, I bet my lunch you've never seen 180mph in a road car!

A car that's geared to get to 180 in a hurry, versus one geared to do 260mph in never-never land, well, it's obvious which one is more fun!

Best!
Ben.

Dan, its a custom job and ugly one at that IMO look at the wing , its smaller than the challenge wing...The engine cover seems to have a plexi cover as well no ?

Gian Maria,

Congratulations on your new Stradale. I should be receiving mine in March or April. How do you like the interior? Is the fabric more like a cloth or more like a true alcantara? Does the car feel much quicker than your Modena?

Did you beat Benuzzi's time at Fiorano?

Dan and JT,

Ive seen a 355 with 6 rear lights like that before.....although i do not remember exactly the type of modification. something is telling me that Zagato did something similar on a 348.

dont know for sure though.

Gian,

In the picture of your and your wife with your car, in front of you is a yellow 355 parked. Correct me if I am wrong, but does / did it have THREE tail-lights on each side?

Edit: I guess JT noticed the same thing

like you guys can see the car was delivered without the stripes , I them installed with a steacker the day after. Anyway the car is really great, the handling is that of a race car, the grip of the pirelli tires is really uncommun, the shift is almos 50% faster of that of a 99 360 modena and the brakes are sensationals, plus I love the scuderia red and of course the sound that at 6300 rpm is that of a F1 at idle.

Brian, that was me on the parking lot!! I guess I was the only stradale in the parking lot. The car is great , the handling, the gearbox, the sound.. I also had the chance on monday to take it to the track with Dario Benuzzi, Ferrari test driver.. great experiance.
More picture later..

that is a very nice shot. I have one ordered also, but in truth I'm not impressed with 290 kmh for this car My Viper when it was stock was faster than this! Granted in the Viper at speed(180 plus) you felt like you were at risk and I'm sure this is NOT the case with the CS.

Roughly 180 MPH in the stardale! Nice!

Dan- I have a steady shot going about 130mph - for some reason it came out very steady like this as well... I'll try to post it later. My wife took it- we hit 140, and were already slowing down by the time she snapped the shot...guess the camera just focuses fast :-)

Hi Gian, Both Rick and I tried to get in touch with you in Mugello but couldn't. Did you get to the races? If so, was that your Stradale in the car park on Sunday?
Good luck with the new toy and post your impressions, pictures, video etc., etc.
