Art ,

You have mentioned this before. So what is your opinion from the reseach? To me it looks like this:

HANS works but no head deceleration just tethering plus difficult extrication issues from car.

Huchens and other sewing machine devices have no standard for how tight to make the device hence the slead tests vary in amount of protection they provide. That was from a SAE repot

Isaac uses lots of theory that makes sence but I have not seen any on TV racers who have walked away with Isaac devices crashes. However, I have read and converesed with several Isaac users who survived crashes and the Isaac worked as evidenced by live driver and damaged Isaac device.

So what is your take? I'm not tied to Isaac but a very satisfied user of Isaac having researched this issue for about 1 year before making my purchase.

I thought the IRL had mandated head restraints. Although it sounds from witnesses to Renna's crash as if it may not have mattered.

There are several head restrain devices: Hutchensdevice, Harms unit, etc. Be very, very careful about which one you select. Some of them may not have as much protections as others.

For those of you who regularly track your cars.....

From the headlines: "Now the 26-year-old Renna is dead, killed Wednesday in a crash at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The crash came in his first test session on the track with the elite Target/Chip Ganassi Racing team, and it came in the same car that new teammate Scott Dixon, the 2003 IRL champion, had driven the previous day at speeds up to 230 mph."

Rumor has it that Renna died of an injury to the neck and he blead out through the carotid artery. I do not think he was wearing any helmet restraint.

Last wek a guy died at buttonwillow california going off the track in a second gear turn from a lateral whipping injury that snapped his neck. He was in a streetcar just like us. He had no helmet restraint.

Some know I'm a big believer in helmet restraints. I really like the Isaac helmet retraint for making all the right compromises. http://www.isaacdirect.com/

The Isaac seems to be the best of the best and really costs less than a set of decent tires!
