Keep it coming P. Thomas...I love it...I'll call you tomorrow. I don't want any BS when I finally take delivery of the car...this is getting fun!

Here's the updated check list:

replace the tensioners and bearings
replace the seals
replace the water pump
check headers
make sure all recalls have been completed
check F1 hydraulic lines
replace hi-perf sparkplugs
New battery and battery tender
check the battery for the alarm (the battery on board the car, not the remote)
FNA Waranty and review extended waranty options

Is that it?

Oh, and although it is not part of a 30K, you may want to have them check the battery for the alarm (the battery on board the car, not the remote). When the alarm battery in the car takes a dump then you will not hear any chirping noises when you set or disarm the alarm. The battery is in a sealed unit and cost some decent bucks. Hey, might as well have them check and repair everything!

In a generic sense, that should cover it. Oh, you should have them charge and then load test your battery. Maybe, you will get a new one. Also, see if you can have them trow in a Battery Tender. My 355 drinks a lot of juice when sitting. It is a pretty labor intensive job. One, of the most critical steps in the 30K service is for the Technician to properly time your cams. I know you will be anxious ( I sure was ), but let them take their time with it, no need to rush right?

A properly completed 30K and your car should be good for 5 years without any problems (fluid changes required of course).

A rushed, botched 30K and.... You do not even want to go there.

Congrats!

Todd- not to load this thread up with an off topic post, but want to say congrats!- I was wondering the same questions as Augustine...

With the motor out, I would definitely do the water pump as labor is probably the biggest cost, and they'll be doing the labor of dropping the motor. Plus the piece of mind that you shouldn't have to worry about that part at least for many years...

Have them replace the tensioners and bearings. That is really the leading cause(versus outright belt breakage). The added cost is around $700 but that is the right way to do it. The other no brainer is seals (very nominal cost) so I am sure that they will replace the seals. Again, do not accept no for an answer on the tensioners, make them replace them!

The water pump is literally right there when doing the 30K. Spinning the pump and feeling the bearing + looking for seepage is all they can inspect. If you can swing it I would have them replace the water pump while they are at it. Labor should be "0" maybe you can have them pay for the pump or you share in the cost of the part??

It is all part of the sales contract so NOW is the time to hammer that out. I went as far as to have FOD draft a letter that said upon disassembly if ANYTHING was needed above the "Standard" 30K that I would not be on the hook. They did it no questions asked.

FOD replaced my clutch (for free) when they did my 30k!!

Just want to make sure the dealer does not leave any rock unturned. I just put a deposit on a 1999 355 F1 Spider and it will have the Major service included as part of the deal. I was told by a couple people to make sure they either inspect/pull or even replace the water pump b/c the engine is going to be out anyway. I want to start a check list to make sure everything is addressed while the car is being serviced.
What else should I make sure they do?

Please share your words of wisdom.

THANKS!!
