Andrew- My first experience seeing a Vanquish in person was pretty sad: some "hot shot" was self-parking a paper plate Vanquish at a restaurant here in Los Angeles (Mastros') a year or so ago, when he backed it up over 2 cement parking blocks trying to back it in. Ouch. I'll stick with my old ones: In my driveway:
On a rooftop with my "self portrait"
They're gone now. |

There's numerous shareware packages for basic icon creation and editing on the PC. Here's a search on cnet: http://download.com.com/3120-20-0.html?qt=create+icons&tg=dl-2001 And two packages that look decent... http://www.iconcool.com/main.html http://www.desktopfay.com/iconedit2/ |

PS - forgot to mention, you can create custom icons on Macs with some software I have. As we're only 5% of the market, I'm sure there must be a way to do it on PC's. Almost all of the other custom icons I have came from Warren. |

Byron, That Ferrari icon is actually my main hard drive. I've got some Ferrari desktops that I didn't post, but still haven't found one with the right shape, positioning, colors, and resolution that I'm really happy with, so I didn't bother posting them. I've posted the Ferrari graphic that I made of the Scuderia shield here before a couple times. Should just be a quick search. If not, let me know and I'll e-mail it to you. I had a friend help me convert it from the plain shield to one with raised elements, highlights, shadows and a drop shadow. Don't know if his website still takes forever to load, but you (and anyone else) can check out his website at www.warrenmanser.com. He designed the Spiderman costume among many other things, but actually started out designing cars in Detroit. Cheers, ~C |

Augustine, as you already know, I absolutely LOVE your car and it's color, so that is fantastic. Can you email it to me,so I can load in on my puter? Thanks Chris, That Ferrari shield on the upper right corner is a magnificent idea to keep all things Ferrari related. Can you tell me how to get that as an icon I can put my Ferrari links into? Steve, that's a good idea... I like a very plain desktop... I hate losing an icon in a busy desktop picture... I think I'll take my photo through the back grille of an F50 and make that into a desktop image. For the longest time I had one of Ferrari's promo pictures of the 360 up... it was a shot of a silver 360 in front of black background under a dim blue light... bring the contrast down a bit and you have a very subtle blue image of a 360. Its the wrong size for my current laptop's desktop though. |

Some may find this helpful - If you find your desktop is too cluttered - Right Click the desktop - Active Desktop > Uncheck "Show Desktop Icons" You can also Right Click anywhere that's free on the bottom bar and choose Toolbars > Desktop to give yourself the whole kit and kaboodle without clicking until you're where you want to be. This keeps your picture looking beeeyootiful, and is there on startup. Careful if you have kids though, ultimately, it shows contents of the whole hard drive unless you've got personalized settings configured to keep your computer out of harm's way. (Kids being harm.) Either way, I group things into folders. |

Once you get it reinstalled and working be sure to download the new Isle of Man Mountain track-THE absolute best track made for GPL by anyone, including Papyrus. You are in for a real treat with that one, I assure you. Absolutely incredible graphics-15 miles of gorgeous twisty-turny back roads. The screen shot I posted, I believe, is from another add-on track: Sachsenring (sp?). You can find just about anything you need for GPL here: http://www.racesimcentral.com/links/ultimate.shtml |

I'm running XP also Jack. I don't remember having to install any special patches to run GPL on XP, per se. Runs great on my system. I race quite often on the weekends on-line via VROC. You might want to ask the guys at Race Sim Central. http://forum.racesimcentral.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=36 They're the experts and I'm sure they can point you in the right direction and help you troubleshoot whatever the problem is. If you haven't run GPL lately you're going to be amazed at all they've done to it. The new tracks/cars are simply amazing. It just keeps getting better! |

Santini, I tried to email you, but my system wouldn't let me. What OS do you use? When I switched to Windows XP, it wouldn't allow me to run GP Legends, and I miss the hell out of it. Any patches you know of? I contacted the manufacturer and basically got the "You're S.O.L., buddy" response. Nice. Sorry for the thread hijack. |
