I thought about the 456 for a daily driver too. But I assume it'll have the high costs of maintaining a v12? I think the maintenance cost of Ferraris keep me from using them as a daily driver. I read on this board that the 30K service is about $6-7k! What are the major services beyond the 30K? Thanks all.

I have always loved the 456s myself, so I would lean that way, but the new Masers look fantastic as well. Welcome to the board...good to see another Dallasite (and lawyer) on here. |

Thanks Will for your opinion. I drive daily 150 km (3000 rpm on Highways) 50% of the time by listen the radio/cd anf 50% by listen the sound of the car because the road is free or I take a twisty road for more fun (because the everyday road is boring me), that's probably I will accept louder sound in high rpm but not too much at low rpm. That's why I will search to try and listen an other car before to spend my money... PS : my car is nero carbonio / beige with red calipers... Lionel |

Lionel, I'm sorry I do not have a record of the tubi sound. It's difficult to describe a sound, but: I must admit it is loud - certainly not deafening or excessively hot roddish or boy racer, but some might find it annoying, particularly on a long trip. You will be conscious of the hum of the exhaust sound as you drive the car in normal traffic, even at 2500 - 3000 rpm. You may attract attention starting the car in a public space, and it will not be possible to coast quietly by anyone - people may turn to see what is driving by. If you accelerate away hard, everyone will turn to look, consequently I tend to start gently. My wife and I love the sound, and it is by no means off-putting in our opinion, but then we are enthusiasts and do not use our car for regular commuting or long trips. If you fancy a great sound system and listening to music in your car, I would stay away from the tubi. Someone else help me here, have I described the sound level accurately? Is you car black and tan? Looks great in the photo. Cheers, Will |

Thanks so much for the helpful input. The C4 I was looking at appears to be gone. I'm in the midst of a move and have been too busy to snap up a third car. Next weekend I'm going to California to drive a maser. coupe (again--I loved it the first time) and the 456 again. I will now be living 3 miles from the office so maybe a 456 w/o warranty wouldn't be the end of the world. |

Will, have you a record of your Maserati's tubi-sound? I never heard it and some people think it is too loud. What's your opinion and your wife's... Thanks, Lionel |

Good choice, Donv. What is that lovely colour on your prized automobile? |

I had this same choice and went for the 456. The C/4 appeals to me, although the backseat is near-useless. Someday I'd still like to own one, however. I did briefly consider the Maserati, but I just don't really like the styling. |

For a "practical Ferrari", if ever there is one, go for the 456. It runs as smooth as silk.

David. Since these are all 2+2s you are comparing. Only the 456 an the Maserati's back seats are large enough to seat anyone. The C4's back seat is too small even for kids. |

David I use a Cambio/coupe as a daily driver I like it very much. To me it's a question of do you like a new car with a full warantee? For a daily driver that's the way to go. For a Sunday driver I'd go with a 465 but they aren't cheap to maintain against a full warrantee. Once again I think it's very important to drive them all. I think you'll find them quite different. |

David, unfortunately for those of us who bought them new months ago, I think a very low mileage, still under warranty Mas coupe could be a good value. I assume one can be had in the 60s or 70s? We have a tubi on ours and the sound is fantastic. We love the look. The 2+2 format makes it practical, which must be important to you. The car has terrific power. And, with the warranty, you have protection from the downside - though we've had no problems with our car. As always, for this type of car, it comes down to what speaks to you. Looks? Value? Warranty? 12 cyl? Only you can answer ... |

The C4s are great car...and I happen to think they are beautiful as well! However, 456 reliability and performance is a real plus. As for the Maserati, for the same price I wouldnt even consider one over a 12 cyl. Ferrari |

Get the 456 there a great car, even the 95's. A friend and myself both have 95's and both have 30,000 miles plus. The only problem I have had is leaking rear shocks and my friend has had no problems whatsoever. Dont believe everything you read especially here on ferrarichat. I think guys write anything just to see thier name on the screen. |

Hi. New to the board. I have a 328 and have been wanting a 12 and a back seat for some time. I hear much general negativity directed at the 456 (esp. the 95s I'm tempted at). But, still, I'm wanting a full 12 cylinders. C4s are a bit ugly and apparently a bear to maintain but they sound great. A 456 is a modern car and is damn fast. The c4 may appreciate? The 456 still seems to be dropping with no end in sight? So???? Me, thinks maybe give up on the v12 idea and get the neck snapping cambriocorsa maser and use it for my daily driver happily burning up the warranty and absorbing the depreciation that would come with any daily use car. |
