Good Deal Ben! Last weekend it happened to mefor the first time ever...after a concours event, on the way home, my top would not go down. Had to use the over-ride switch for the first time. Have a bad potentiometer under drivers seat. If this ever happens to you - Dealer will sell you the unit attached to the seat rail as a total "assembly" for about $1100. But, you can buy the potentiometer from a non dealer and change it yourself...easy to do. I'll post something in Tech when I'm finished doing it today. |

A few weeks ago I posted about a problem with my top and got some good advice from Frank Lipinski as well as others. I discovered what the problem was and am posting it here in order to help others who may experience a similar problem. When the mechanism starts to open the top there are two large forks that latch onto a spinning part. If these forks (both of them) don't interact properly the top will still open but it will fall short of the latch. Often one or both forks was missing its mark which is why sometimes the top would latch and other times it wouldn't so it was driving me nuts. Even now it still slips but I just have to actually place the fork in its slot. Thanks again, Frank. |
