Sal, I've got an 89 348. If you can live with Bosch 2.5, dual chambered exhaust, possible cam bearing updates, and a few other minor known updates, then you'll be fine. I've had a few fixes to make since owning mine, but still love every minute with it. However, if your bank account and wallet allows it, I would go with an even newer model, perhaps 93-95. All the updates/upgrades were made by then, and they shared the same spider single-chambered exhaust, plus 2.7 Motronic. Pricing is all about the same, anyhow... might be worthwhile. Keep an eye out for cars that have had a major service, too! |

my 348 is also a 1989 model. It has a few upgrades too. There is no car that I've driven so far that is as much fun to drive as my 348, (and I've been fortunate to drive quite a few Ferrari's). J |

Sal, Go to www.ferrarichat.com and check the FAQ's there. There is one specific to the 348 series. The early cars have the "potential" to be more problematic, but there are "well sorted" examples out there, that the owners have worked out all the bugs...shop carefully, but in general, you really never want the first year or two of anything Ferrari makes, as the low production numbers and limited miles the cars get, takes time for them to figure out the issues. |

Sal, Welcome to F-chat! The 348 is a very fun car! there were some upgrades to the 92 model with regards to the fuel injection from a bosch 2.5 to a 2.7. Some have a single plate clutch instead of the dual plate clutch. I'm not sure if this is really an upgrade. Mine is a 92 with a dual plate clutch and It's solid. If properly serviced 348's will take all the miles you give them. What interests you about the 348? Vincent. |

I want to buy my first Ferrari, and it will be a 348 is a 89 any more problematic (first year and all) than a 90 or 91. Any good advice would be appreciated |
