Thanks Will, but Melbourne's fine thanks.

But I could be really cheeky and say that with my labour rate at only $80Aus/hr, it would be beneficial for for many US guys to send their cars over for major works/restoration, or components of, ie engine/gearbox.....

Phil, thanks! Let me know when you relocate to the US, want to get to your shop's front door before the line gets too long ...

I've now found the bulletin

vehicles from assembly (not chassis) #41323 are OK.

Engine # below 61587 need new rods if racing regularly. (Engine # is on top of block near oil filter, you'll need to look hard to see it.)

Bulletin was released in May 2001, but has a "Not for USA" stamp at the top of it. Dont know why as parts book shows no alternative for US.

Ahhh, this confirms what I suspected based on the two grenaded 360 Challenge's in 2000 on the team I was with. (Two different cars.)

"Up to a certain engine number in mid 2000 production"

Phil, any way to find out what that number is? I have #118818. Thanks, Will

Out of 10 Challenge cars in our fleet. 6 needed the upgrade and 4 already had the rods installed.

Of the 6 that needed the upgrade, 2 blew before it was known/done, for big end end float reasons. And One challenge car and one N-GT have let the small end go.

All cars repaired/upgraded and now only two Challenge cars remaining.

If anyone is interested, one challenge car available now as end of season. Chance to have it as is (inc rear wing, front splitter and LM flip up's), with only a few scuffs and bruises. Metallic Black. No cats. Engine/box within mileages. 12 wheels. (see www.procar.com.au then image gallery for AGP or Phillip Island 2003 meetings)

Price Aus $165,000 OVNO. Perfect working order, no repairs necessary. Contact Mark Coffey at Maranello M/sport +61 3 9421 3488 Melbourne time.

Mention me (Phil Hughes)!

Thanks Phil -

Any idea how many cars involved? "Racing regularly" sounds more like Challenge cars than street machines. Is there actually anyone out there racing a non-Challenge 360 "regularly"?

Up to a certain engine number in mid 2000 production, conrods should be replaced if racing regularly as insufficient endfloat and no oil channels between the two rod faces that touch each other on the shared journals.

Can lead to big end overheat and failure.

Also problems with small end failure in extreme cases, no remedy.

A reference to a problem with 360 connecting rods in the Ford GT thread got my antenna quivering. Anyone have any details on this problem? How many cars were involved?
