Hans,

Just wanted to let you know that my car does NOT leak any oil. I have a metal pan underneath, and I never get any drops of oil.

And yes, I did check the oil level to make sure it wasn't empty.

Jay, yup, mine was originally the boxer paint scheme on the bottom, did not like the scheme as IMO, the scheme hides most of the lines of the GT4 and doesn't flatter it's beautiful lines. I love the white, factory color. I have seen two other white GT4's in my lifetime other than mine, one was that other GT4 on that website someone posted on this thread belonging to Perry and the other was a white on blue 77 I had seen many years ago. I know about the brown color you mention, only seen that once. Saw also a few gold metallic GT4's, but those are rare, most are rosso corsa nowadays.

Oh, BTW, all these photos are obviously retouched. This is an accurate photo of a GT4.

BobD: That site belongs to Jim Perry. Jim used to live about 90 miles from me, and that car is the 2nd Ferrari I'd ever been in, and the first that I ever drove. He was VERY generous with newbie seat time.

Jim was an avid car photographer, and has had some photos published in national magazines. He saw one of those Mercedes "airplanes" take off live at LeMans.

I've lost touch with Jim, as he moves quite frequently. Really liked that Ivory/Black GT4, tho.

White was an option back then? That really makes it look very "coutachish"

My car was originally "Nut" brown, then was painted red (of course) and when I got it she was yellow, so yellow she stays.

1975 GT4, US version, 10162, last registered 96 :-) Waiting for 2004 to arrive to become grandfathered into CA. 2nd owner since 82, 71K miles, originally white/white, now white/tan. Oh, almost forgot, I don't have O2 sensors, throttle position sensors, fuel distributors, Intel processors or motherboards to mess with. Love my webers!

Oh, and BTW, I tracked my car for the first time last friday. Had a blast. Aside from having to bleed the brakes after the first session (my fault, should have bled them before the event), the car ran perfectly with regard to temp/pressures. Also did fine on the 3.5 hour traffic jam on the way back from the track (normally a 1.5 hour ride).

The thread title was meant as a joke regarding the GT4's black sheep status in the ferrari family.

Personally, I love the GT4, and specifically looked for one over the GTB and mondials. The cheap price made it a plus for me as a buyer (and an easier sell to my wife). The look is great, and it supposedly handles/performs better than the GTB/S cars.

I think this is one of the most undervalued ferrari's out there.

Guys, Even though I have a GTS I have a place in my heart for a GT4. They have their own panache and look especially good in the red/black boxer trim though I may be partial to a yellow one....................

Someday...

Gerrit, you are welcome.

>aren't GT4's the best?

one of the best 'modern' Ferrari's, yes. [the "be proud" part of this thread's subject is quite unnecessary]

>I think the gt4 is ine of the most original and beautiful cars ever.

One can generally find the idea in most of Gandini's designs,
for example, compare Gerrit's and/or John's cars (and of course the tail lights) to:

http://www.lambocars.com/highres/lp40011.htm
http://www.lambocars.com/highres/lp40010.htm

http://www.lambocars.com/countach/lp400i.htm

which I feel is pretty much the "best" (the lp400 not the other countach's)

Mine's for sale, if you guys know of anyone who might be interested. Nice '75 US version, VIN 10156, red with Boxer trim and black interior. I've had the car for 10 1/2 years, and it's currently fitted with 17" wheels & SO-3s, Momo seat, harness, fiberglass Euro-style bumpers, extra oil cooler and Accusump, as I use it mainly to drive to/from/in track events. This is a scrupulously-maintained, under 30K mile car. Thanks.Upload
