Also,a big difference in using a Fiero,than a real Ferrari as a base car! :-) And,since 288GTO's look so damn cool...but...cost a small fortune. A 308 as a donor isn't all that bad,IMO.

Bert. Mr.Hooper is a reputable guy. He's been in the business for quite a while. Very knowledgable about Ferrari. Check out his website. He's been advertising in Hemmings, for a long time,so you can probably also check with them, too. You're car looks to be coming along nicely, but,I'd much rather spend the $8500.00 and get it done in a couple months and alot less bondo! Using a GTS is also a cool idea, seeing as all of the real 288's were hardtops. I like it. Good Luck!

I ate dinner with one of the owners of one at the New Orleans event this past weekend. That's one hell of a car! They had him parked out there with the 2 Enzo's and Schumachers Formula One car. It looked great on display and I was curious if he won any awards for it. The owner and his wife are extremely cool people.

man I love the 288. It makes my stomache hurt when I think about how badly I want one. I looked at one at a dealer in Florida years back and didn't know what it was...kills me now that i just glanced at it and kept walking. Damn distracting Diablos.

Bert, your mirror story makes me cringe as Phoenix was my source for the mirrors too. They are very hard to find.

Maybe once you have yours you should try to make a mold and sell them on the side? I'm the first to buy. Wouldn't be a bad idea anyway in case somebody knocks one off.

$8500 bodykit? You only need 6 square meters of sheet metal, a welder, depending on your skills more or less bodyfiller and 2 years long all your weekends and holidays (estimated, 16 months so far and taking a break to regain energy and faith)

Upload

Frank W., do you also know Mr. Carpenter from Phoenix? I ordered and paid GTO replica mirrors for $400 with him, he took the money and never heard from him again. I'm in the process of getting my money back through a recharge that my creditcard company has to perform. Maybe you can go to his place and kick him in the ...
Is Mr.Hooper better? I think he can also sell me the mirrors.
Bert.

O/T
With regard to fake 288's, you'll all point and laugh when someone comes up with a Fiero built up into a TR. What's the difference here? It's a car - admittedly a nice one - dressed up to look like another. A wolf in sheep's clothing. An aberration. An embarrassment. Sacrilege. This must be stopped!

Andreas....
So you'll wait till I have something to sell
knowing that the market will take off right after I sell right?

And,$8500.00 isn't too bad for the rebody parts, either. Could probably get one of those 328's that have front end damage from him and make a "288" out of it.

Andreas. The guy at Italian Auto is: Mr. Fred "Butch" Hooper. He's a really nice guy,and very knowledgable about Ferrari. I go out to Phoenix/Scottsdale alot, and I have been to his place. He's got a fantastic set-up there. Tons of new,N.O.S.,used and aftermarket parts. Cars parting out. Rebuildables. Cars that just need some "TLC" For Sale, too. A 288/308 rebody would be pretty cool, however!

Ex-owners is fine too. I think I cannot imagine the pain to have separated with one of these. Cruel.

Any details like s/n, miles etc?

THIS is the thread I really like to see getting some pictures and data back. But somehow I have the feeling there will be little if anything coming in...

OK, if you have a rebodied 308 looking like a 288, show it too please!
