Michael: Car is currently on FerrariAds.com and Cars.com. After an initial flurry of interest, inquiries have slowed lately (as has the weather). Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. |

Don't be afraid to mention something truthfully negative about the car - no car is 'perfect'. As a buyer, I want to know why someone is selling a car - if the car is so great, why would the seller consider getting rid of it? I'd also be realistic about the car's 'value'. People want to get a good deal - buyers aren't trolling the net marketplace in an effort to spend as much money as possible on something - if that was the goal, they'd hire a car broker instead. John, I've seen your car listed somewhere before....where? |

Jonathan- with any large ticket item (especially cars) the more pictures the better!! Pay the $.50/picture or whatever it is they charge to get a few extra pictures up there. You may want to put a reserve which will set up a minimum, but then again, if you trust that the market is strong, you will get more people bidding with no reserve... |

I cannot over-emphasize, as a buyer, the importance of the "vibe" I get about the seller from looking at the ad. How much feedback does the seller have? What is the seller's rating? Does the seller seem to understand the car? Does the car seem to be presented honestly and fairly? Is the VIN included? Are service records mentioned? Description of any dmaage/repaint history, or disclaimer of any damage/paint? Are there complete photos included or easily available upon request? Does the seller invite an in person inspection, or even offer to let the buyer inspect before finalizing? When I look at an eBay car, I'm looking for red flags. I would also post references to the eBay auction on all the relevant discussion sites, as permitted. |

Jon: Yes to the MARRS question. I started in 2002 by renting a SpecRacer from John H. (actually it was Steve Spoerl's car) and then from Jay Green. Had a great time but switched to a Spec Miata rental. I bought the same car last winter and raced 8 MARRS races this year. Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it. See you at SP. Regards, Jon H. |

Hi Jonathan, Your name looks familiar. Do you by chance race in the MARRS series? I race a SRF with Hagerman Racing. On the Ebay front. I sold my pristine 1962 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special on Ebay in 2002. I had it advertised many other places like Hemmings and so on but Ebay was by far the best route. The car was appriased at 5-6K (had 22,000 original miles) but I got just under 11K for it. My advice is that you provide as much information on the car as possible on the web page and include many detailed pictures of the car. If there isn't enough room on the page give them a link to another webpage that you create. This may seem like very basic advice but you would be surprised how many people selling a car just put three sentences and 4 pictures. There was a 355 Challenge for sale a few months ago and it simply had three sentences about the car. Remember you selling a car, get them interested and make them feel like you are honest and open about the car. List things like service records, clean carfax, the shop that does your work, your regular maintenance schedule (i.e. oil changes and such). Laslty Ebay follows the economy. When it's hot (still was in 2001) it's a sellers market and when it's not it's a buyers market. Hope this helps! Regards, Jon P. Kofod 1995 F355 Challenge #23 www.flatoutracing.net

Start your price low, say $1 People will overpay when it starts cheap but few people if any bid when the price is at its actual value. I sold a car this way on ebay, started at $1 No reserve. I got more than I was asking for. Lots of pictures. |

I am thinking about offering my 328 on EBay. Any suggestions, caveats, insights?? I have purchased through there but I have never sold anything through them. Thanks. |
