Good writing as usual.

I did find this part funny:

quote:

I saw the awe in Matts face. You see, Matt had never even sat in a Ferrari in his 25 years on this earth. That was all about to change

I remember DES posting after he got his first ride, and it wasn't that long ago. Now he's the voice of experience :-)

Well done DES! I'll just let you keep doing all the typing and just add my comments and stories. Guys Kelly is one hell of a guy. I was very impressed as I watched DES driving gloves and all trying to keep up with us as we flew down the highway. Once we arrived at the hotel we could barely speak standing there in the garage. I felt like I had stepped into another world. Man DES you are going to have your hands full trying to get it all together but it looks good so far. I thought all my pictures were on CD but Walmart gave me the wrong ones so I'm getting them copied again. I should be able to post them sometime tomorrow.

The world is a strange place. We are so many different people, from so many different places, living so many different lives, all brought together because of one thing: Passion. Not passion for spending 4 days down south; not passion for hanging out with a bunch of rich folks; not passion for throwing beads off of some balcony; but passion for Ferrari. Thats what the Ferrari French Quarter Classic was about. Women and men from all around the world gathered in one place to share their passion for Ferrari. All walks of life, merging together, lust-laden for all things Scuderia. If that makes any sense to you at all, then youre saturated with the same passion that leaves me dripping with enthusiasm day in and day out.

So where do I start? Fresh thoughts, barely cocooned as memories, dangle in my head. Ferrari butterflies fluttering about my mind, it was all so surreal.

The months and months of anticipation had built up to the day of my flight, making my seat in coach even tighter than normal. Upon touching down at New Orleans International, I calmly exited the plane and made my way to baggage claim. Thoughts clambered wildly around my brain with the wonder of what was yet to come. Matt LaMotte was already there. We met for the first time and chatted as we patiently waited for my luggage to come around on the belt. Even with two lay-overs, Continental exuded competency; my bags and I made it to the same place at the same time.

Matt and I drove back to the hotel; we were sharing a room. Matts polite and outgoing and easy to talk to. The ride to the hotel was pleasant and we hit it off like we were old friends. We were both excited and couldnt wait for the events to get started. While unpacking, my phone rang. It was Kelly Vince. Our next stop was to meet him. Things would be underway, shortly.

After going with Kelly to drop off his truck, we rode back to his house in Matts Acura Integra. Sitting right outside, Kellys red 308 GTS.

Its got a passengers seat, so one of you is more than welcome to come along, were the last words I heard Kelly say before I saw the awe in Matts face. You see, Matt had never even sat in a Ferrari in his 25 years on this earth. That was all about to change. I took his place in the drivers seat of the Acura as he entered a whole new level of the Ferrari experience.

The opportunity to meet Kelly Vince was a pleasure and I value what it means to call him a friend. He sacrificed chance after chance of fun to work hard and make sure everything ran smoothly for the events. Hes a real stand-up guy and I admire him.

I followed Kelly back to The Windsor Court, the host hotel for the French Quarter Classic. Upon arrival, Matt and I gazed, jaws agape, at the cars pulling into the hotel, the cars being unloaded off of the big trucks in the street and the cars still in the trucks waiting to be freed. A 360GT, John Houghtalings 355, Franco Valobras 360, a California blue 550, a yellow Daytona, an F40, a 288 GTO, a blue 456, a red-and-boxer-black 512 Bbi the list just went on and on. Cameras shuttered and buttons moved up and down like pistons as we blazed a trail of pictures from outside to the hotel garage, freezing in time, the beginning moments of a weekend neither of us would ever forget.
