I still have the stock seats in my 328, but the EVO comes from the factory with Recaro "Sport" seats. They're bottom mount, with an adjustable tilt back.

I got a bit interested in what else would fit on those rails, as I wasn't very impressed with the seats. Except for the full tubs (with individually fitted inserts), most Recaros are bottom mount.

On a Ferrari, you'd probably have to replace the factory rails. And you'd probably want to, to get SCCA/FIA certified rails that won't shift the seat position in an impact.

I have been thinking about racing seats in my 308, which is just about the same as a 328...
My question is, which model seat has anyone mounted.
and would that seat be a bottom mount rather then a side mount, and were the original rails used or did they have to come out??

Where could one go to try out different seats to see what is best for them?

Crawford,

Forward/back adjustments come from the mounts, rather than the seats. Some mounts also have up/down adjustments as well.

Size and adjustability of the seats vary by model. Prices vary wildly by model, from the basic bucket with individual inserts to the $2500 Ergomed DS with more controls than the starship enterprise.

Both Recaro and Sparco have listings on the web. A google search will find them.

there is a 328 on ebay right now that has 70K miles and racing seats. Looks good, but odd at the same time.

Am considering some racing seats, but had a couple of questions...

Are racing seats adustable (foward/back and reclining)? Do they sit higher than the OEM seats?
Is lateral support noticably better?
