At this point all I can say is that if Capristo wants a major breakthrough in the Tubi market they better lower their pricing by quite a bit. No way I would take the chance knowing what I know and "feel" about Tubi. That's that!

Hey Willis! Yeah we had a blast with you guys in Seattle. I wish the Tampa Bay area had roads and hospitality like Seattle does! The roads down here are FLAAAAAT and there are too many old people drifting around on the highways at 32 miles per hour. Tracey and I can't wait to come back up for another wonderful lunch and Sunday drive. My neck still hurts from Will D's torque monster. What a car!

Warren-------If you can, drive an Arnage. The experience is hard to describe. 600 ft/Lbs of torque and completely silent. The workmanship is oh so nice. Get one!

I think we all have our favorites when it comes to exhausts (mine is GHL) and I know quite a few people that think stock exhaust sounds just fine. This much I will say, every tuner I've talked to says the samething in the 360 changing the exhaust only gets you better sound. I remember a 996 cab I had, I put this fabspeed exhaust on it, believe me it was loud, and I would have bet money the car was faster, turns out when put the car on a dyno, I had lost HP, funny how that better sound made me think the car was faster. I certainly think the test pipes will give you a boost, and the filters alittle too, but it the real gains must be coming from the ECU's. Russ, hey I'm excited for you, can not wait to hear your report.

FABS:

"Geez Michael that's a helluva a technical explanation. Most of us F owners really appreciate fact based comments like that."

If you had asked for a technical explanation I would deferred to the experts on exhausts, as I have no technical knowledge of any exhaust. You simply asked "WHY" anybody would buy a Capristo over a Tubi since a Tubi is "PROVEN" and "costs the same or less". I provided that "WHY", because it is better, IMHO.

I think a better word than "proven" is "de facto standard" and with time comes better products on the market which are better than the standard. Unfortunately, one can't reasonably go buy every exhaust to try to see which they like the best so they settle on the "standard" and most others have the "standard" and recommend it since they are perfectly happy with the "standard", not knowing there is better out there.

As others have said all one needs to do is look at the quality of construction between the Capristo and Tubi to get an idea. The sound on the Capristo is to die for, IMHO. The Capristo has the amazing ability to make the car sound incredible outside while making it totally bearable inside. It is throaty up to 3000 RPM and at 5000 RPM hits this tone that tingles your spine. Between 3000 RPM and 5000 RPM it sounds totally stock inside the car, which is fantastic as I can cruise on the highway at this RPM range and it is as quiet as stock (inside the car) which is what I want when I am just droning along with the wife. Downshift by one gear and I am back into the orchestra. I love having it up above 5000 RPM, immediately people on the street snap their necks to look at where the race car is and start pointing with mouths gaping before they even recognize it is a Ferrari. The sounds coming out of the exhaust are truly awesome. People just get giddy at the aural melodies coming from the Capristo.

So, there is my non-technical but from the heart and mind experience.

I have put three Capristo's on my cars now. two have F1 and one is a stick all are 360's. I will never buy a tubi again. the tubi sounds like crap compared to a capristo. once you hear both you will agree. tubi is tubi because there just wasnt much before. they now have the name and thats about it. if you are going to buy an exhaust for a 360 and you choose the tubi over the capristo, your nuts. would be like purchasing the honda S2000 instead of the 360 because you thought it had better performance. this capristo will blow your mind. it is a little louder than the tubi but most importantly its the tone of it that is sweet music. it makes the tubi sound like a UPS truck.

One week ago I installed a Capristo system (no test pipes) and Bmc Filters from Hieko. After putting a couple of hundred miles on it I definitely notice more power. It pulls harder throughout the rpm range. The sound is great. It is very deep at low revs, and changes into a F1 car sound at higher revs. My friend has a new tubi on his 360 and the sound is much quieter and not as race car like. I was nervous at first to buy somthing not proven, but I made the right Choice.

Russ:

I'm also very interested in your feedback. I had a GHL exhaust on my 01 coupe, and the RM racing induction kit. (kit wont fit on my incoming spider). Im putting the GHL back on the spider, very interrested in learning more about the straight pipes (put them on my Maserati coupe, made a big difference), and the ECU's and how they will effect the cars systems. I've moded lots of cars, and not always without problems.

Heiko, any info you have, please send it you me.

Just out of curiosity, why would you purchase this Capristo when a proven Tubi could have been had for the same or less money?

Yes, Martin ...ONE WEEK from Germany. He sent them by Airborne at no extra charge. Heiko called me yesterday morning to make sure they had arrived. This guy's follow up is excellent. Its a pleasure to work with someone who actually CARES about the customer's shopping experience.

So far I couldn't be happier working with Heiko.

Dan: The 48 horses comes from removing the cats and replacing them with silenced test pipes, using the tuned Capristo muffler set and replacing the stock ECUs with Heiko's ECUs. On top of Heiko's promised 48 horses, I am replacing the stock airboxes with high flow carbon fiber ones and replacing the stock air filters with high flow BMC filters. A new challenge grill will help to keep engine bay temps lower.

FORTY EIGHT HORSES?? Now that I have to see to believe. Flatter torque curve - sure. Some high-end improvement, sure. But a 12% power gain?

I am going to call around tomorrow and try to find out about a local dyno. I know of several in our area for engines only, but I'm not sure about any drive-ons in the area. It sure would be nice to be able to confirm the increases but even if I can't find a dyno I have been assured by other guys who have done this exact swap that the flatter torque curve and the extra 48 horses are hard to miss. One guy I talked to said that after driving his modified 360, his friends stock 360 felt like it was towing a boat behind it.

I can't wait to feel it! (And HEAR it scream)

Well, the two boxes from Germany arrived today. Upon opening them, I was treated to some of the most perfect craftsmanship in stainless steel I have ever seen. This Capristo exhaust (made in Italy) is almost too nice to mount in the car! I may just let it sit in my living room as art. Curvacious and shiney like a mirror. The welds look almost robot welded...perfect and polished.

Seriously though, my mechanic friend Mario is coming over this weekend and we will install it along with the test pipes and ECUs.

I will post before and after pictures and sound files.

Russ
