Hi there,
Nice discussion going on there guys.
Majken is a good friend of mine - known her since University. Sorry Tom, they only had the car at her place for the interview on Canada AM on Wednesday morning from 7-8am (I got pics, wanna see???) - the car's presently back at the dealer's place until she talks things over with them. She's truly torn about selling the car - hell, who wouldn't, it's beautiful. Reality is, that she couldn't use it for anything more than cruising around, and would be forever fretting about what the knob in the SUV behind her is doing (like watching the blip move in the navigation display while changing the radio station, sipping on a coffee, talking on the cell, steering with their eyebrows...). If we lived in warmer climes it would probably be a different story, but even in Southern Ontario summer is only four months of bad snowmobiling.
She's going to be entertaining offers on the car, so if you're aware of anybody who is looking to purchase one, drop me a line at [email protected] and I'll keep you posted. I'm contemplating setting up a web site for her to review offers to compare with the dealer's buyback offer.
Cheers!
Steve

Ask her if she wants to make a charitable donation of said Ferrari to me when she's done with it. :-)

Warren, it would be appropriate to put a smiley face after your comments suggesting that the Cdn currency is not a worthy currency. If you are/were serious, then you should look into the real economics....right now the US currency has been sliding for some time and the Cdn currency has risen substantially over the last 6 months.
OBTW it is 670K in US currency.

Sheesh... just because a lot of people have no appreciation of Ferraris, doesn't mean we can't still express surprise at that fact.

Lots of people show no appreciation for others' property, dinging and scratching cars left and right in parking lots. If called on it, they'd just look at you and say "They're just cars." And I am still surprised by that fact... though, I recognize it and park my car accordingly!

Sure, one is specific preference, and the other should be universal... but in a group of Ferrari lovers, even the former is "universal".

But my answer to Jonas would be: with that much money, I'd get exactly the Ferrari I want, the way I want it... and I am sure that wouldn't be the one in the lottery. So, I'd sell it too! And like her, I'd take a spin in it first! :-)

When you talked about "getting lucky" my mind wandered and was expecting a better story. Then DES said someting about getting picked up from the side of the road by an older woman! Then my imagination really wandered.

Ye, kds is right Henry. No lottery tax in Canada. But it all works out the same. Win a mil. in the states, you go home with just over half a mil. Win a mil. in Canada, convert it into a worthy currency, and you got just over half a mil.

A female friend of mine once dated a guy that was driving a Mercedes 300E. He loved that car. They came out of a restaurant one night and she walked up to the passenger side of the car and waited for him to open the door. The problem was, the car she was waiting by was a Hyundai the same color as his Merc. He was SO pissed she didn't recognize the importance of his ride.

LMAO...! A friend of mine went on a date a while back; gentleman picked her up in a Boxster - owns a Porsche dealership, actually... She couldn't care less...
Another friend of mine absolutely adores cars and loves to talk about them, go look at them, drive them, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera...

In any case, the woman who picked me up last night is married :-) and i've known her for a few years... :-)

Des,

We've really got to work on your, er, skills ... first rule of seducing just about any lady is leave the cars out of the conversation ... you can just about watch the sparkle disappear in their eyes :-( ...

Man, oh man you need some help ... :-)

Remember to open your eyes and have a look at other things the world has to offer ... Jonas (and others) not everybody gets off on Ferraris :-)

Your wife/sister/mother probably would say something like this:

'It's just a car ... what's the big deal'

Heh I'd sell it too ... and once I set everything else set up (ie. house, family car, etc.) I'd buy a cheaper Ferrari or something like a Ducati ... :-)

Variety is the spice of life :-):-):-), you may even want to have a look at the other cars that are out there ... might surprise you, or simply reconfirm that Ferraris are for you!

Not me of course, maybe someday... The car in question is a 360 F1.

From the AP:

Woman Wins 2nd Lottery
TORONTO-October 29, 2003 Winning is getting to be a habit for a Canadian ultrasound technician named Majken Church. Yesterday she got the keys to an Italian sports car and a check for $500,000.

She won the prizes in the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation Cash and Cars Lottery.

Three years ago Church won $370,000 in the same Toronto lottery.

Church says co-workers now want to touch her for luck.

While she likes her new red Ferrari, Church probably won't keep it. She says she'll take it for a spin, then likely sell it.
