Thanks for all the information.

This is a great community.

I am not an expert in pricing.

However, a recent post said that the most he could get for his TR was $50,000. I believe it was the same year - 1988. This has the problems like the one lug wheels and the weird size tires.
The one in the post probably had great maintenance.

Another post said there was not a preminum charged in resale for being converted to a convertible.

Its use seems to be similar to a rential. Recommendations were generally not to buy, but only at a steep discount.

I asked for detailed info on the service for this car. Was told that they had done much of the service. This could mean little or mean much. They said that they will be doing a 30,000 mile service. Would question the quality.

One should be able to buy things cheaper on eBay.

I noticed in the photos that this car seemed to be at the back of their lot. Is there a reason for this?

Taking all this into account to include today's economy, it would seem that the vehicle is probably worth $40,000 to $45,000. Maybe a little less considering the beating of being similar to a rential and the resulting risk.

Their reserve is $67,500.

I will pass on this one.

Thanks for all the help,
Dave

When I lived in NY I saw this car. The car got my attention because it was a convertible Testaroosa.
As far as I know Champion Motors had the car a few times in their out door lot..They deal ALOT with young brokes that make alittle money and get a cool car, then they trade it after a couple of months for something new.. I assume that none of them may have been serviced on time if that at all..
I also read somewhere that the TR was never intended to ever be converted into a spyder..
Look to see what type of reenforcment was done to prevent flexing...
The looks great but I would stay away unless it was for a song and a dance.......

Dave:

Stay away from this car. My friend has just returned the car to champion last month on a lease program. The car has been beaten up and not taken care of. You are looking for trouble.

Thanks for the information. Under consideration.

It appears that they do not know much about Ferrarias.

Following are the questions I sent them.
I sent them another email asking about service records, manuals, and tool kit.

Is there anything else I should ask?

Several questions on your Ferrari for sale:

What service has been performed on this vehicle, by whom, date, and milage?

How many miles has the vehicle been driven in the last several years?

Send me some photos of the roof wear and the broken seat belt cover.

What is the history of this vehicle?

Have there been any accidents?

Other than for the convertiable conversion, is the paint origional?

On most pictures of convertiable conversions, there is a cover, either metal or
fabric, that covers the top when the top is folded down. I noticed that the
picture did not show one. Do you have it or has it been lost or never there?

Who was the convertiable conversion done by?

Are there any areas of rock chips, painted areas, rusted areas, etc.?

What tires are on the vehicle, brand, size, and condition?

Send me a copy of the carfax report.

Send me a picture of the vehicle with the top up.

Send me any additional photos you have.

Thanks,
Dave Wapinski

Does anyone think there are chassis flex problems with this thing? Cutting off the roof of a car really screws with the rigidity of the frame.

geez - this can't be worth all that much. pristine 1988s seem to go around 60. this is not a low-mileage car (fwiw), and the chop job isn't that impressive. this car can't be worth more than 50, can it?

doody.

They don't even mention that it's a convertible, as if it was something normal for a Testarossa!
