It costs about $3.90 to ship a $1.00 tape. HELLO!!!!!! If you ship someone a $1.00 tape for $3.90 and they ship it back, it make no sense. There must be a lot of old money out there. If someone will send me a copy of the interview I can make all the prints anyone wants for $5.00 each including shipping. |

Exactly Ed. The point I was trying to make was that top drivers need to push themselves to the top and that requires a certain amount of behavior most ordinary people would consider anti-social. You have to be the fittest, most confident person on the track, and many have learned that a certain degree of intimidation helps their cause as well. This behavior is bound to carry over into day-to-day life. Michael is as brash and cocky as the next guy, but he seems to also be able to portray some humanity as well,in contrast to his brother Ralf, Juan Montoya and others. There is no question that they can back it up on the track. In my own way I was defending Michael's attitude. He can't help himself. |

It takes a certain amount of brash self-confidence to drag yourself to the top in F-1. Under the circumstances I think Michael handles himself pretty well. Certainly better than Ralf or Juan seem to. |

Saw the show. Schuey does seem to be under the impression that he gets around a track okay (and, based on scoreboard, he's not delusional in this regard). He also deems Indianapolis to be a somewhat dangerous propostition (some truth to this, as well). He has seen drivers come from CART and achieve limited success. Of course Villeneuve (with a championship to his credit) would be an exception to this and Juan seems to be able to run the pace. And he's seen F1 drivers "retire" to CART. And so his impression is understandable, I think. Could he be a bit more humble? Probably. But his tone wasn't overtly boastful, IMO. Candid? Yes. Braggart? I didn't think so. Though Spoilsport may be a more accurate arbiter of this. Anyway, cool segment, I thought. |

I think it is true that some is lost in english not being his first and most used language. A lot of them seem to miss the subleties. I don't hate him even though it seems I'm always posting anti-Schumi things here. He's who I sit there on the edge of my seat watching on Sundays. I find it almost funny though, just like stereotypical Germans I have met. Before I ignite the German continguency, I'm half German, my mom lived there til she was 20, I've been there before, oh and my mom works for Mercedes Benz USA so all the people she knows are German. They are great people and great at working, but there is definitely a superiority thing going on at times. In all honesty it makes me laugh when they make comments like this, I find it geniunely funny. I think if he would have said he finds it too dangerous and he enjoys the more complete racing of Formula 1 it would have been much better said. But, he obviously only speaks English when called to do so, so it must be assumed unless someone knows that these language and cultural notes are somewhat foreign to him. I think Wayne Gretzky is what a legendary athlete should be like. I started playing hockey long before I knew what a Ferrari even was. Gretzky is always composed, diplomatic, etc off the ice, on occasion doing something wild especially when playing for Edmonton. On the ice he is composed but as spirited as they come, only on occasion doing something out of anger. I don't think you could find a better sports role model for a kid. |

Hey Bret, aren't you reading too much into what he said? I listened to the interview and do not feel he put anybody down. I believe he merely stated that Formula 1 is the highest level of achivement a car racer can shoot for (which IMHO I believe he is correct), and that consequently, Indy racing and other types of car racing are at a less desireable level for a person of his abilities (undeniable abilities, that is). In addition, I thought he made clear that in his opinion Indy car racing, for some reason, is too dangerous to be worthwhile (I believe facilities related rather than competition related). Yeah, he did said that many Indy drivers do not make it in F1 and they are forced to return to Indy racing (Hmm, perhaps he was implicitly challenging Montoya to put up or shut up, who knows!). Anyway, I do not try to read between the lines when people speak. I normally take their word at face value, and that is probably why sometimes I don't see the things other people see. Just MHO. |

True, although I was too young to remember, my family used to have Christmas with the young boxer that once went by the name of Clay and he was the furthest thing from the act he put on in the ring. |

I remember a youg boxer named Clay that had a mouth that never stopped. But the guy could always back up his big mouth! Now he's one of our greatest hero's. Let the German mouth off and produce results. The fact is, he does entertain. |

Wow, I'm surprised you guys never learned anything about humility. Where'd you guys all grow up. Where I come from you're a much better person to simply let actions speak for you. He may be the best, but does that make it alright for him to make what boil down to condescending comments. It doesn't matter how good he is, he is no better than anyone else and should respect others. He doesn't need to talk down about anyone and IMO he has no right to do no matter how good he is. Back when people had morals and values you were considered an a$$hole to make comments like this, nowadays apparently it's alright because you make a lot of money and are good at something. |

If anybody on here needs advertising space, I will shave 2 inches of hair of the back of my head and tatoo your ad there - all for much less than Schumachers $10M. I come cheap - price of a 550 will do nicely |

If I was making 60 milion and I was considered the best driver out there and back it up, yea I would be a bit cocky too. *not to mention 2 inches of space on his drivers cap goes for 10 milion...he is a walking advertisement. |

MS can say that and back it up. Is NASCAR or Indy style racing more popular, more technologically advanced? Nope. They are great racing for what they are. Certainly NASCAR is pulling in the fans. Indy/CART is on its way out if things dont change. Follow the cars around the tracks and what do you see? Lots of empty seats. MS can be as arrogant as he wants, and for the most part, he is very humble considering what he does and how much he makes. Juan Montoya shows he can make the transition from Indy to F1. We have good drivers here running those series. F1 is still king for open wheel racing though and MS is the man to beat. |

I taped it. I had to come home from school tonight (go back up tomorrow morning) with the first half of my stuff, the jeep can only fit so much. So, being as I was at home I flicked on the TV and low and behold look what was on. Watching it I was like wow, Schumacher really is a good guy, maybe my opinions of his attitude were way off. Then of course he makes his German arrogant statement about being above American motorsports, in particular Indy racing. All I could do was laugh. I mean he has a point to a certain extent, but there are some very good drivers in American racing. Just the way he says it so high on himself. He is undeniably fast in a car and I have to admit I like him on Ferrari. 95% of the time he is cool as hell, it's just the other 5% of the time that he makes a condescending comment that makes me have to wonder about him. |
