It really is pretty easy. If you have a two car garage, take both out, put the 328 in and strat removing pieces. Lay them out on the floor and then lay new pieces on them. They will probalby not be an exact match (overall hsape yes, but a corner notch here or there, no). Reinstall as removed using 3M spray adhesive (not the trim stuff, the spray glue.) |

There were some Lloyds embroidered floormats for a 308 on Ebay earlier this week, sold for $255. I guess the old supply/demand thing has kicked in. 6 mos ago you could buy them for less than $100. |

Russ, one place you may want to check is World Upholstery, can't remember the website. They advertise in Hemmings and Forza. They sell carpets, headliners, floormats (no...lets not start another thread on that topic!) LOL... |

Thanks Scott. I plan to do this myself but am somewhat intimidated by the removal of all of the fixtures that hold the carpet down. I suppose that once I start unscrewing interior hardware that it will turn out to be easier than it looks. Am I correct? |

When I did mine (80 GTS) I ordered some through an auto upholstery place. Although not the primo imported wool or anything its a very nice cut pile. I did all the work myself and am very happy with the results. I got 5 sq yards (just barely enough) for like $180, so it was inexpensive, easy to reorder or match if needed. I've seen pre-made wool sets for like $1,000. Don't know if this is something you plan to do yourself but its not too teribbly complicated. I just took the old carpets out, cut the new the stuff to roughly the same shape and took my time trimming it down to where it became a good fit. I didn't like how the original carpet was in so many pieces so I combined a few (like the foot- well areas) into fewer pieces so there would be less seems. Also ran the new stuff "under" the center console which gave it a great clean appearence. But if you basic question is how much and where; upholstery shops can help you if you don't have to have the exact orginal stuff, www.italiancarparts.com has the wool sets and get at least 6 sq yards if you buy it in bulk, good luck. |

Even though I just got my 1988 328 I am thinking about some winter projects one of which is to replace all of the carpeting. I was qouted by one place whose name I can't recall $700 for all of the interior carpets all cut and bound identical to the original. Could someone give me an idea of just how difficult this is to get it right and some advice on where to buy the carpets. Thanks. |
