Just a note, the replica Stephen and Kenny are talking about was made by the same company that made the car in the previous link. I saw one at the Monterey Historics once and it was very, very nice. |

Kenny H and I saw a beautiful GT-40 replica at Nick Soprano's shop in White Plains. Check out his web site: www.motorclassiccorp.com I believe the car was around $65K. Without knowing anything about GT-40's or replicas, I was definately impressed with the quality. |

GT-40's are one of my all time favorite cars. At a car show in Hartford a couple of years ago, I had an opportunity to sit in the ERA version, which is very faithful to the original Mark I. This car is very much a race car in street clothes. The sill is very wide and the windows don't roll down. While esthetically pleasing, I don't think it's a car you can live with easily. Still, I'd love to have one. |

This link has some great pictures of a completed CAV car. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1828806704&r=0&t=0 that new GT40 from Ford is great and I'm glad they are doing it, but it still can't be as cool as one of these done right.

I have a love affair with the GT-40, but they are out of my price range. At one time I had a ERA replica ordered, but it was going to be $100k+ before I was done. Now I see CAV has a very nice GT car out. I have seen this car up close and it is excellent as far as fit and finish. For around $60k you get a car with everything but the engine, and it is already painted and built. This offers a nice contrast to the garage. A car that will go 200mph with the right motor, does not have to be numbers matching, you could drive the SH!t out of it, and if you hurt the motor for $5k you could put in a new ford crate motor. am I crazy in wanting this car. |
