I found that picture on a vintage racing site, sure brought back the old days. Anybody in the Chicago area up for a walk on the old track. Sometime in June |

Not sure, Jack. Oroczco had a car at the historics that looked a lot like Augie's (only saw it on track, though) and so was questioning this also. Really a great car, though. |

I thought Augie still races the Scarab. At least as of 2 years ago. Did he sell it? |

Cool pic, Bob. I think that Scarab may have belonged to Augie Pabst. Currently owned by D. Oroczco? Nice car. |

Thanks for the link Bob. I walked around the place a couple of years ago with my dad. It was before my time but, but my dad collects auto literature and has quite a few race programs from there. Looks like it was a great track. |

Meadowdale International Raceway near Chicago is the place I saw my first sportscar race and also my first view of a Ferrari. Opened in 57/58 built to rival the then new Road America track. Being only 9 or 10 dont really remember much about the cars I saw except the Meister Brau racing team, These stuck in my mind because I saw one of the cars at a car show, great looking blue Scarabs looking under the hood I recall being disapointed to see a Chevy engine. I did get to race on the track in a kart, this was just before they tore down the Monza wall built like its namesake. The track closed for good in 69, the major parts of the track are still there, the local park district has opened Raceway park you can walk what is left of it.If you are interested http://meadowdaleraceway.homestead.com/index.html has lot of info and pictures.
