Bummer, Chris. Don't know if this is a cause for the ruling but about a year or so ago at Fontana, a young open-wheel prospect wiped out with a high-level exec from noted sponsor on board. The results were less than adequate. Quite likely Skip's school provides at least a portion of their own insurance. Don't know what the story is with FCA but seems the Speedway (and their underwriter?) is a bit gun shy with the whole ride-along deal. |

That is disappointing, track event cost are so high as it is already, now the insurance companies are jumping on the bandwagon. The liabilities are just too high now. Now this is the end result. I hope clubs can continue having track events because a majority of racetracks are not accepting the lower cost rental insurance. I love lawyers! Please don't flame me |

What a bummer. I think Norm may have a good idea there. Maybe we dont call them "rides" they are mechanics to help find a mysterious sound, see how the car is handling, they are an instructor, etc. maybe we just do it and beg for forgiveness if something is said. |

Just a note.... The only time they will allow passengers is during the school on Thursaday. Skip Barber Racing is providing the instructors. As I have mentioned, I am bringing Grant Maiman, #2 in the points currently in the Barber Dodge Series and an instructor with Skip Barber as my driving coach. It was my hope that everyone could use Grant as an in car coach on Saturday, but that is not likely at this point. You can still meet with him for instruction at our trailer. I am a little upset that this just came out as this has been known to FCA for months. I loaned Grant out last year at FCA/Dallas and it was good for Grant and Ferrari owners as well. Grant's daily rate is not cheap, but worth it. I was just hoping to share his expertise with friends. I am sorry that Cal Speedway took this posistion... Chris |

I'll bet Cal Speedway allows instructors to ride in the car with the driver. And some drivers just need a lot of instruction....Norm |

Ya... Sure... We all know you paid them to make up this rule to get out of giving rides in your F40 to us "poor" folk. ;) |

I was just notified that Cal Speedway does NOT allow passengers in a car on the track.. This sucks, never had this happen before. Unfortunatly, this means no F40 rides or 360 Challenge rides at speed. If I can find a way around this I will. I am very sorry, I was looking forward to riding with you guys (and gals) Chris Please, still use our trailer and Tim's coach as a meeting spot, we willstill have refreshments |
