Did you drive the Ferrari down to get the pine straw or was the pine straw an impulse buy and you just happened to be in the Ferrari at the time?

Pine Straw! Heck I forgot to comment on that. I won't even put pine straw in the Explorer. You are kidding on that one - right? Pine straw hauling seems beyond normal car use (any car).

Although, I did strap our used chrismas tree on the roof of the 328 to take it to the dump. NOT!

Frank - Please don't take offense. I really only had 4 concerns which made me think you would treat the Boxer differently and not drive to the beach:
1. I would have hesitation for allowing sea-spray to get on the car (but that's 'cuz someone else made me quite fearful of rust). I guess that's more of a 70's era problem anyway.
2. The general discomfort of riding in a loud and bumpy car with legs off center and clutch knee bent for 5 hours. Ouch!
3. The lack of luggage space & downright lowsy gas milage making you stop so much (I guess stopping is better for the knees). We pack so much stuff when we go to Seaside or Carrabelle that we need a Suburban sometimes. How would you bring back the cooler full of grouper & shrimp?
4. The sea-water infiltration into coastal gas station tanks. We have been warned not to fill up our boat there unless it was advertised as double filtered.

I had been wondering if the Boxer was going to get used as a daily driver as was the 348 was. I would have thought the Boxer was more like a hobby car for nice days, car shows, track time, tinkering (like my car is to me). Comfort wise, it kinda' sounds like moving from a Citation 10 jet to a WWII P51 Mustang fighter (technology wise too).

I'm very glad I was thinking wrong. Yours may possibly be the only daily driven Boxer in the world. Someone had to do it. As for the trip to Florida, the Odyssey chase car answers alot of questions. I did not think for a second that you would be concerned about the milage of road rash. I did know better on that one.

Vince, not much. That's why my wife will be driving the Odyssey. John, why would you think that? I have always driven my Ferraris on long trips. I drove my 348 to the USGP at Indy, to the Cape three times and to Dayton, Ohio once as well as other shorter trips. When I had my 330GTC I drove it to Jackson, Mississippi, and Ashville,NC several times. I hauled pine straw in my 328 from Home Depot and drove it to the Florida beach on numerous occasions. I drove my 400GT to and from Philly, Pa.. My cars are to drive, not show.

Frank - That takes some large coconuts. I've got to admit, I did not expect the car to leave North GA on it's own power.

Matt Lamotte - I don't personally know anyone in LA with a Ferrari. Mike may. In any case, by the power vested in me by Rob, I hereby grant you dual status as a FC Florida and FC Georgia/Alabama member. Frank P. used to take his 348 to the panhandle. I doubt he will do that with the Boxer. But, you never know. My inlaws have a vacation place in Carrabelle and my aunt has one in Seaside. Where are you?

This area is a test to see how we do as a Georgia and Alabama group. This does not mean we don't love our brothers in other SE States. On the "other area" page, posts from Georgia and Alabama dominated the scene, prompting this change. Several Atlanta folks asked for an Atlanta post but I thought it would be real nice to include Dr. Tommy, Charness & other 'Bama folks in our discussions. Now, lets try to catch up with the other areas on the front page.
