Big Weekend Update:

Annual FCA - SE Region Kick-Off Party This Saturday May 17th - DINNER STARTS @ 5pm! For those who asked, we are kicking off the F1 season, our FCA event season and the new enthusism our club has seen this year!

Brian Willis is hosting the party at his home in Suwanee, Georgia. Directions on following post. Hat's off to him for all of the preparation he has done!

We should have enough food for the slackers who did not RSVP - so bring it on! Please note that British Car Day is 3 exits North of Brian's at Chateau Elan (Hwy 211) on Saturday. Please be courteous so they don't crash our Italian Car Day party in the fall.

This event will be a casual BBQ eatin', cigar smokin', car talkin', video watchin' type atmosphere. Bring a fold-up director's style chair for the mulit-level deck if you have one.

All Ferrari enthusiasts are welcome and encouraged to attend. Donations for admission & dinner will be $20 at the door (inside), and $15 for a spouse or significant-other (your date). Please no griping. The cost is break-even for the number of folks who sent an RSVP. Extra revenue from donations will buy nice give-away items for raffle.

A catered BBQ buffet-style dinner with all the fixin's will be served with fine imported beer (+ a little domestic "light"), tea and soft drinks. Liquor and wine will be BOYB to keep cost down (2 bottle shops are with in 2 miles).

I'm looking for a couple of volunteers who may be interested in helping to collect donations and help with buffet serving.

DON'T FORGET! - Sunday May 18th @ 7:30am Annual Formula 1 Party
Hosted by Ferrari of Atlanta/ Maserati of Atlanta. FOA will graciously open their doors for us to watch the Austrian Grand Prix live on their big screen TV. Note that this is the morning after the Kick-Off Party. Last year, we had well over 30 folks attend. This year we expect an even bigger turn out. Come have doughnuts & coffee with other F1 fans and Ferrari Enthusiasts.

RSVP to me, John Delvac at [email protected] if you plan to attend the F1 event (for food planning). No need to call me about the BBQ, we are all set up.

The show in Carlisle is for Imports, kits and replicas.
Every thing from pre-war Citroens, Opels, Messhershmits, any and everything European.

http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/schedule/import/index.asp

Also the oddball stuff, Lots of real nice GT40 & Cobra replicas. Not cheap stuff, some of the Cobra and GT40's get up over $125K. Build quality on the turn-keys is absolutely fantastic. Also some very top notch Lambo replicas as well.

Sometimes I can't understand why some of these people put more into a replica than if they just bought a decent previouisly owned one.

Off coarse I'll have to tolerate the plethora of F40 Fiero rebodies :-(

I'm heavily involved with FLU (The national Fiat club) and besides the regional gathering for that, I am representing Hawk Cars as I am building a Lancia Stratos replica with a supercharge 308QV (Mark Eberhardt and I are colaborating and I will be visiting him in PA while I'm up there).

Anyways..I should be in town for the Fathers Day drive and my F355 (real - not a replica ) should be absolutely ready for a gathering with the local Ferraristi.

Who else is going to British Car Day?

John,

I would love to come to the show/lunch. But, my wife is in full panic mode about having the house ready for Easter lunch tomorrow. So I will be fixing drywall and painting instead of looking at Ferrari's :-(

If there is any other way I can help let me know.

John,

Thanks for the plug but I need to clarify one minor point--I was the senior designer on the BMW LMP cars that won LeMans in 1999, not the Audi LMP cars. However, I am currently working with Audi and will be running one at LeMans this year. Minor point, but I wanted to set the record straight.

FCA SE Region kick-off party will be at the home of Brian Willis, Suwanee, Georgia on Saturday May 17th, late afternoon. I have never seen so many toys in one house. Us car nuts should be quite entertained. Brian is a race car designer. In fact, he designed the winning cars for Audi at Le Mans. Folks will recieve complete info including maps, hotel and party fees via one or more of the following sources: www.ferrarichat.com, FCA bulletin, www.fca-se.com, Ferrari Market Letter, E-mail from me, and snail mail from the FCA(via me).

There will be an F1 party for the Austrian GP at Ferrari of Atlanta the next morning 7:30.

Everything is set up except the food.

Yes-I am in town that week so my house is available. I am done testing my Audi R8 for LeMans. Next Stop-Race-June 14th!! As far as people needing a place to stay-Yes the next exit up from me (2 miles) has a number of hotels, etc. I can also put up a couple of people (2-4) in my house for a night or two.

Also-any idea how many people we can expect and what actually are the details of the "kick off party"?

Hey everyone--I am willing to donate my house for the day--It has good parking in the front yard--I am the last house on a dead end street with no house across from me--so we can park up and down the street without worrying about thru traffic.

Back yard has a 3 "story-ish" deck with jacuzzi and barb-b-que. The basement is completely finished with a kitchen, big screen HD TV with killer home theatre system and couch for about 15-20 people.

Upstairs is another kitchen, leading out to upper deck and in the main "living room" is a library with about 1800 books on cars, planes, boats, military history, etc.

So it's kinda up to you John Delvac

I am up in Suwanee, off of I85 about 5 minutes from exit, so the drive is about 30 minutes from Ferrari of Atlanta.

OK - Here is where we are. The party will not be at Marc's. It will be at my house on May 17th unless someone with a better party house wants to do it there. We will have catered BBQ & fixins. I'm thinkin' a premium beer on tap and BYOB for wine & the hard stuff. We will have a car show in the culdesac in front of my house starting about 5 in the afternoon. We will also have use of the adjacent pool, restrooms and parking lot. Ferrari of Atlanta has agreed to host an F1 party for Austrian GP in the morning. I live 2 miles from there. The Giovanni's event will be earlier, in April. I am very open to all suggestions. Here is a 360 degree view of the current location:Upload

I'll not likely make it to Atlanta for anything until the Fall Italian Car Day sponsored with the Pantera folks. I missed the FCA kick-off party last year also. But your venue sounds good, but if you're trying to generate some money, you'll use a lot of it up in a mailing. You might be better off to push it out so you can get a notice in the FCA Bulletin.

Also, you mentioned a Father's Day thing. You should realize that conflicts with the Memphis Italian Car Day benefit already posted on our fca-se.com website, but I suppose most of the Atlanta folks wouldn't drive that far anyway.

Thanks, Jeff. We will consider your house, as a party at mine would relocate our 7 month old daughter. I don't suppose your neighbors would consider sending all of the kids camping, would they? Ha! Any other party house suggestions...?

Frank and I are planning a Cruise-In car show at Giovanni's soon. Do you folks think we should do this the day of the party, with the F1 thing at FOA the next morning? or do you think it's better to make this two separate events? If it's the same weekend then out of town folks will have a place to go on Saturday. I need input.

Walt - I think we will set up the Father's day thing in Dahlonega. Do you have any more info? if you do know more, why don't you start a new thread to see who will commit? I'd like to know specifically if we would have a place to park together.

Maybe not for the kick-off party, but we've been invited to tour the private car "museum" of one of our members, Pat Ryan, in Montgomery Alabama. He currently has four Ferraris, and other classic, sports and race cars totalling up to around 30-40 vehicles. His website is at www.prismacars.com

Let me know if that seems to be of interest. He said there is another private car museum nearby, owned by another non-FCA member Knox Kershaw who has a Ferrari 550, whose museum sports between 20 and 30 classic cars primarily from the 1930's and '40s and we'd be welcome to also drop by there.

John, As requested I'm reposting this thought.

The 1st Annual Father's Day Classic Car Show and Cookout is on June 15th at Wolf Mountain Vineyards. According to their brochure the cost is $20 prepaid in advance. Lunch includes: "Gourmet Burgers, Marinated Chicken Breasts and Sausage on the grille with salad and all the trimmings. The Estate wines will be available for your enjoyment. Call their catering office at 770-992-4120 to make reservations".
The Vineyard is located at 180 Wolf Mountain Trail, Dahlonega. Their ph. # is 706-867-9862. The owner said that there will be several car clubs there and he mentiioned that the Porsche club is one that will be there.

We need to find a suitable location for the SE Region FCA annual kick-off party, followed by F1 at Ferrari of Atlanta and car show the next morning.

Bart thinks this needs to remain in Atlanta due to number of members, FOA and central location. The question is: Whose home should we do it at?

I am willing to do it at mine. I have a fantastic car parking area, but I don't have the great outdoor hangout area like at Marc's house. But, it will work OK.

Does anyone in Atlanta want to have the party at their home? Must have good, safe F-car parking and room for folks to hang out for several hours.
