John, did you ever find out what model jack this was and what the minimum height is? |

John, count me in for one of those jacks if it will fit under my car. |

I should have the model specs by Monday. I hope they are the second one from the top on Sears web page. That's how they were described to me. |

thanks, Mike - I'm thinking of using them with the "wood trick" you mentioned earlier. I've got an SUV which I think would work great. Kind of a "Jack of all trades" pun intended LOL |

Vince: If that's the one, that's a 4-ton jack, and also isn't low profile enough to fit under our Ferraris. But it would be a heck of a deal at $60 anyway if you need it for working on other vehicles. |

I built a mini-ramp of 3 layers of 2x12 and drive one rear wheel on it so I can get my WalMart floor jack under the car. Even so, I still have to take the front wheels off the floor jack. But it works... got the idea from Peter Sedlak. You might want to check out this thread on floor jacks and clearance, including from Sears. It says the Sear 2-1/2 Ton has about 3" minimum clearance and fits fine.

I'm checking heights and will get back with you. I asked him to measure the "foot" height. A 5" minimum height is noted on Sears web page, but I think that's farther up the base (as if you were lifting the center of the car). The dang lift he described is $450 new from Sears!!! I almost hate for him to see the website. |

Do you know the specs for the low profile ones (like how low is their minimum height)? |

I am a general contractor building a solid waste transfer station expansion in Woodstock, GA. When a nearby Sears Outlet Store closed, they discarded twenty eight (28) new, in-the-box, professional grade, Craftsman floor jacks (and a bunch of other unrelated stuff). When the truck arrived to dispose of them, an impromptu auction ensued amongst bystanders and my superintendent came home with all of them. A few are SUV jacks that go up much higher (Wholesale $150). The rest are low profile like they use at Sears Auto Center (Wholesale $80). I can get you all jacks for $60 each (quantity discounts? - yes). Anyone interested? Whats in it for me? For every four (4) I sell, I get one (1) free for myself. John 770/652-2273 |
