Mike Gourley is also pretty good with those classic race cars, and not just as a mechanic :-)

For older carb cars no one beats Mike Gurley, 770.922.8562.

If you use this link (www.liquidvac.com/ec_special.html), you can get $5 off. I also use LiquiVac most of the time. Great gadget. See also the page at

For oil change, check out

www.liquivac.com

It's a cool item. I use it myself. Takes a while to suck it all out (8 quarts in my 308) but very efficient and clean. Supposedly recommended for all new Mercedes. Some folks think it doesn't drain ENOUGH oil, esp. from the bottom of the pan, but it is supposed to actually drain MORE than a remove-the-plug change. That said, about every third time, I do it the old-fashioned way.

I just had my 348 52k done at Deutchland. Nice job, fair price and it was done in 5 days. However, check around for prices on some of the parts required. George at Deutchland was going to charge $970 for a new set of Ferrari ignition wires, I got a custom 8.5mm solid core set for $190 on the web . . . check around.

I have been very, very impressed with James Ward's work and only let him work on my 365 GT4. He even works on my 500 Merc when its under the weather. He's based in Dandridge, TN and will come to you, tools and all (he's in the Atlanta area about every six weeks or so). That and he's still $38/hour. Contact me privately, and I'll give you his contact information.

Thanks everyone for all the info, but I think I am gonna wait two weeks and let FOA do it.
It's just an oil change, under panels, lifts,,,,nevermind. But, Atlanta folks lets take a ride soon.

changing the oil is a simple matter. Make sure you are removing the proper plug as some 308 have near by plugs that can be mistaken for an oil plu g(gear oil) and then let the oil drain. Replace the filter. Refill with the proper weight and quantity of oil. It helps to have a lift. Also if you warm the engine a bit, the oil comes out faster. It helps to open the oil filler spout to allow atmospheric pressure to do its work.

Seyhan - post a note when you're going to FoA and maybe some of us can make it up that way.

Very funny Frank - I didn't know you were a comedian too ! Maybe we can get BP to go to lunch with us.

To change oil on some of the newer models it helps to have a lift. The cars require some of the undercarriage panels be removed to gain access to the underside of the engine.

I, too, like the folks at FoA to handle my jobs. I call in advance to schedule a convenient time.

I would not take my 355 (if I had one) to anyone but Thomas at Ferrari of Atlanta (Wade for older cars). However, I damn sure would not pay them to change my oil. Do it yourself and save $135 in labor. If all you want is an oil change, tell us what part of town you're in so we can direct you. If you had an older Ferrari you would have more choices of mechanics. Terry can be found at Old World Motorcars on Stephen's Ct, Tucker. There is a guy next to Road Atlanta that is supposed to be real good & cheap. Name anyone? I'll change your oil any evening or weekend for a bargain rate of $50, oil and filter furnished by you.

I went to FOA. once. Not that I have problem with them or something. But you need 2 weeks notice for an oil change and the car will will sit there another week. But thanks for the info.

I like FOA. If you don't want to use a dealer try Terry Girmone or Dr. Hondaa both in Tucker.
