Mike:

No harm, no foul. The car is set up more for grand touring, but if you push it, it drives like a Daytona with a full trunk. The pace was a little fast through parts, especially new pavement and loose stones. Nothing too dangerous, but it caused me to back off some. I don't yet know all of the roads, but with the amount of traffic, felt my speeds were prudent. Vince and I will be happy to keep the rear guard next time.

Cheers.

Hey, there was no screeching around corners... I value my car and my life too much. I save *most* of that for track days. Erik, I hope you didn't feel I led the group too fast for the road conditions we had. I was just commenting that the 365/4 might not have the handling/accelleration mix that the newer cars (even the 308's) have. And of course my 308 certainly doesn't have the handling/accellation that the Viper or even the Mallett Corvette had in our group.

Erik, If I had made the trip, I would have been in your mirrors. No need to apologize for driving safely, and I commend you for not trying to exceed your comfort level.

Warning:

Before anyone questions my abilities to handle a car at speed, I lost a fiancee in a car accident in 1999 (I was not in the car) and have no desire to drive anymore than 75% of my ability on the street.

4000 pounds and two passengers. I can run with the big boys, but they are public streets and I'd like to think that I'm still mildly responsible.

Is it only tires that's been keeping you so far behind the pack?

Okay, I've ordered tires for the 365. I'm not going to be Mr. 107% at the next event.

Trevor, yep, a bit too far for you! We do have a blue 328 coming down from Tennessee though.

Erik, I heard from the Corvette guy, he'll be there. This is a 'vett he bought new that he's put *another* $30-40K into -- it's a MONSTER in terms of horsepower and torque.

There's another Z06 'vette that often comes along, though I haven't heard from him this time.

I'll bring it up to him. I had lunch with our controller today who has a Z06 Vette, if he wasn't going on vacation Saturday, he would have made it.

Erik -- feel free to invite your BMW friend that was looking for a new place to drive...

The weather forecast looks very good for Saturday.

Frank, you're certainly welcome to come from Atlanta, but this is the Huntsville/Hampton Cove drive on the FCA schedule we're talking about.

Erik - nice idea, but I don't have the time to do Jack Daniels this Saturday. Last time we did it, it was great, though, with a stop a Falls Mill for a picnic. You can see pics at

We could do a "liquour run" and head up to Jack Daniels if everyone has time.

Either is fine with us. The same route is fine, we enjoyed it last time.

Haven't heard from anyone other than you and Victor so far, but if you're game, the three of us can go even if there's no one else. What about meeting at either my house or the Target parking lot at 7:15am if we want to do that same route. I'm open to suggestions...
