We've had one of the 328s need to cancel, and currently have no cars on the waiting list... so if you know someone who wants to take that slot, let me know. I'm in Hawaii at the moment, but I do check email and voicemail every day or two.

"1 Corvette, 1 Porsche, 2 Vipers, a Countach (but it's not for the main track day) and the rest are a variety of Ferraris, models include 308, 328, Testarossa, 348, 355, 360 spider, 456GT, 575M, and for older 12's we have a 365GTB/4, a 365 2+2, and a 1966 275GTB" Seeing these cars together in one day is worth the price of the track day alone. My God. My God. Getting my inspection done tomorrow. Can't wait 'til the 15th! |

Mike - Quite an impressive list of attendees. I appreciate the privacy bit. btw - a 365 GTB/4 is also known as a Daytona. It's not the same as a 365 2+2. |

Branko, I do have a full list, but I'd rather not publicly post everyone's names and cars in respect for their privacy. We have 1 Corvette, 1 Porsche, 2 Vipers, a Countach (but it's not for the main track day) and the rest are a variety of Ferraris, models include 308, 328, Testarossa, 348, 355, 360 spider, 456GT, 575M, and for older 12's we have a 365GTB/4, a 365 2+2 (is that the same as a 365GTB/4?), and a 1966 275GTB.

Dale: We're full with a waiting list now for the all-day cars slots. But come on by and have some rides, and you can still take the Porsche out on the track during the lunchtime open session! Lee: Yep, I'm hoping that Mike Green will bring his Countach that day.

This is all extremely exciting. Can't wait to see some of you again and to meet the rest active in the southeast! Any collection of these cars is exciting, but a 456 (!!), a 365 (!!). Mike Green: Please bring the Countach! I've always wanted to see one of those up close. My 308 just got a starter rebuild and is running beautifully. Can't wait...! |

We now have our 20 cars committed, and will be starting a waiting list when we get other inquiries... there's likely one or two cars/owners that will have to cancel for one reason or another before the track date, so there is a realistic chance that the first one or two people on the waiting list will indeed have an opportunity to get a slot. And in any case, there's the "open session" at lunchtime for anyone else who'd like to go out and play for a bit!

Piston noise is good noise (muffled or un-muffled)!!! I remember 1st hand the old Buick stock block V6's at Indy a ways back, and the Big Block Chevy Group 7 cars at Road America in the 70's. Now that was music! Wankel on the other hand.......let's just say there can't be too much fibreglas packed in that exhaust tube. in a Wankle related note...what the hell is a "SuperTrapp" supposed to trap? ;^P Jeff Davison |

I just looked up www.jt3racing.com It looks like their car is not a LeMans style car, but based on a 911. Here's a photo from their site. That car would be quite fine to bring along, and probably pretty fun to watch.

14 Ferraris currently signed up for Talladega: Mike C. 308QV HSV AL John D. 328 ATL GA Jeff D. 355 ATL GA Terry S. 308GTB carb ATL GA Erik N. 365 GT4 HSV AL Victor E. 328 HSV AL Bart D. 348 or 355 NASH TN Crawford W. 328 NASH TN Bill H. 456 HSV AL Jake M. 308QV LAWR TN Johnny F. 360 or TR LAWR TN Lee P. 308GTS carb KNOX TN David B. 365 2+2 BIRM AL Glen C. 308 GTSi BIRM AL Not signed up: Branko M. (308QV Euro) is thinking about it. Tommy C. (328) is unavailable (some football game that day) David B. (365 2+2) is calling his brother Vincent B. (575M) to try to get him to come. Robert R. (328 Memphis) is checking his schedule. That's the only other folks I've talked to personally about it. Oh, we just had the MR2 Spider have to cancel, so I gave his spot to Glen C. a few minutes ago. We have 3 confirmed/paid non-Ferraris ('02 Corvette, Viper, and Porsche 944 Turbo). Here's my plan: if we get any Ferraris that we already have "represented", they'll go on a waiting list now. But if we get Frank's or Drew's Boxer, or Kin's Challenge car, Vincent's 575M or something else unique, we'll cannibalize off the "other sports car" slots. If those aren't filled within 2 or 3 weeks from now, we'll give those to *any* waiting Ferraris the first of Sept. I'd sure like to see one of your Atlanta Lambos (actually, we have a Countach in Birmingham now also that I've invited but didn't hear back) take one of the non-Ferrari slots. I would guess the AMLS Porsche woulld be fine... there will still be room to pass (or for him to pass) on the front straight. For those of you who don't know what one looks like, I'll upload a pic. |

Can we have a list of who is signed up so I can bug those who aren't? You Me Jeff D. Terry S. EriK N. John H. Randy Victor? Tommy? Bart x 2? Kin? Any other usual suspects? I'll send out a Georgia FCA E-mail soon to try & pick up one of the Vinces, Frank, Mitch, Brian W., Marc, John L., Clark, etc. Is it OK if my friends sign up with their AMLS Porshe GT, or do you think they'd hog too much track? www.j3racing.com I'm building two buildings for them. |

We now have 16 cars confirmed, so there's room for just four more before we start a waiting list. If you have a guy with a Boxer that wants to come, I'll take it from the "other sports cars" allocation so he can get in. |

J/K It may be smart to tow at least one vehicle out j.i.c. one of our cars can't drive back under it's own power after track time. Jeff Davison |

We now have 9 of the initially allocated 12 Ferrari spots for this event already PAID and locked in. If you've said "probably" but not yet paid, you may want to lock in your spot soon by credit card or check. So far, for non-Ferrari sports cars slots, we have a Corvette, a Viper, an MR2 Spider, and a Porsche Turbo 944 as paid. We have two more Vipers who have said "probably".

Jeff: OK, will do, and I'll use the same mastercard from last time unless you tell me otherwise. I felt badly that you had car problems last time that showed up just before track day! I think that puts us at 9 Ferraris now out of our 12 initially allocated slots (plus we have 2 of the 8 non-Ferrari slots already filled). We may be taking names for the waiting list even before the info hits the Ferrari Club Newsletter!

Erik, no problem. Should be able to have them turned around in 2 to 3 weeks from the time I get them if they're both getting similar paint jobs. Give me a call and let me know what you've got in mind for a design so I can make sure I have the materials on hand. Feel free to use the "sketch sheet" at www.fca-se.org/helmet.htm to design your own. What model helmets did you end up getting? I got my Bell Mag 4 and my Bell M3 Kevlar from them in the past, but I see they don't have much in Bell's line anymore. I've got a new Formula 1 abstract design that I haven't used yet but you might find interesting that I'll email to you. If you don't like it for your helmet(s), don't worry, it won't hurt my feelings! Just offering something "different".

John: Yep, so we'll have no conflict doing that this time. It's been officially "blessed" by the track owner. Other than the motorcycle/car mix safety thing, last time the problem was because we hadn't signed up for the right kind of insurance that would cover that lunchtime open session. We're ok for that for this November event.

We finally have a date for our Fall track event at Talladega Grand Prix Racetrack. This isn't the "big oval", but the roadcourse about 10 miles from there. This is a fun track, and one of the best roadcourse tracks you'll ever take your Ferrari on as a place to test its (and your) handling limits. This event will be a charity benefit for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Bring your Ferrari or other sports car for a full day of fun at the track. $169 per car for the day, all the driving you can stand! Guests and additional drivers are free. We will also have a lunchtime "open session" for other cars that would like to see what it's like to play on the track, for a $25 donation, so invite your friends! Advanced reservations are required. There will be 12 spots reserved for Ferraris, 8 spots open for other sports cars. We usually sell out and have a waiting list, so reserve your place early. Click Here for details and pictures from past events, or just look down the FerrariChat Georgia & Alabama topic list to see notes and pictures from last time.
