Bo Pirkle is an artist. He completely restored a 1971 Daytona for me in 1990, and though it took him some time, he did a great job. I still own it, and it still looks better than the day it left the Ferrari factory. He charged me more than $30, and it took him over a year to finish, but he did great work. The outside of his shop does look ratty, and I had to take out insurance on theft and comprehensive when the car was in his posession, but I can truly recommend his fabulous workmanship... |

I have been using Bo Pirkle for all of my paint and body needs for over a decade now. He is a true artist. I have seen cars that were shipped to him from thousands of miles away because of his great reputation in the exotic car community. |

Lucas, Bo is the best. The vette owner may have changed his mind about repainting after seeing how good Bo did just by buffing. Remember, Bo did say it's best to keep as much of the original paint as possible. A Lot of us seem to get emotional when we get a scratch on our car and want it fixed "perfectly". And then a week after painting it we end up with a rock chip... |

An awesome body man in Atlanta, no way! He sounds great, and Frank recommends him too. I find it funny, though, that the guy in the post says he "hunted around for a body shop, wanting to make sure my baby was fixed perfectly" but then settles for "Well, the scratch is still there... but if you don't know to look for it, you can't see it." I'd of had him paint it. Especially if its on the Insurance Company's dime. Luke. |

I found the following write up at CorvetteForum.com: fyi - the poster had his Corvette scraped in a parking lot by a "hit-and-run" driver. There were witnesses who got the tag. Well, 4 weeks later, things are finally resolved. My insurance went ahead and paid out what their adjuster estimated for the damage... $531... that included (on her estimate) repainting the entire door, blending the adjoining panels, and removing/reapplying the graphics to the side of the door... oh yeah, and the price fo the graphics too. That does *not* include any possible diminished value (yet to be determined) Well, being a new car and in damned near perfect condition, I hunted around for a body shop, wanting to make sure my baby was fixed perfectly. I ended up going with Bo Pirkle, who is also the same guy who painted wooosch's hood, and he managed to get a *perfect* match to the Millenium Yellow. (I saw another MY car with an aftermarket hood @ Road Atlanta a couple weeks ago... it didn't match very well at all!). So I headed over to his shop, but when I get there I'm thinking "WTF"? The place was a pretty run-down looking place (from the outside), and had several beaters sitting out front waiting for various paint works. One of the guys comes out and starts looking around at my car -- he's quite impressed with the color & graphics. It turns out that he was *trying* to find an EBM vert with oak interior & top near the end of 2k2, but he ended up "settling" for mag red. So we get to talking about the vette and everything. Turns out that Bo is currently out picking up some supplies, but should be back soon. Well, this at least gives me a chance to show off the car to someone who is obviously very enthusiastic about them. He then shows me INSIDE the shop. Whoa... what do they have there? A *beautiful* grey Ferrari 456M. Well, it *would* be a beautiful car if hadn't been missing the entire rear fascia and related hardware. Apparently the guy had been rear-ended -- $25k in damages Bo eventually comes out and takes a look at the injury to my car. He says that it "might" be able to buff out. He says go ahead and order a new side graphic, and after that comes in, he'll go ahead and try wetsanding and buffing to see if that will take it out -- he's really big on keeping the original paint if at all possible. So I order the side graphic and we set up an appointment for this Monday. If he DOES need to do paint work, he says it'll probably be about $500-$700, but he knows my insurance adjuster and he'll work things out with them to make sure it doesn't come out of my pocket. I show up Monday morning, and Bo peels the graphic off (only the damaged section) andgets to work on the side. I'm still very skeptical, but hey, if Chris trusts him with his Z, and Ferrari of Atlanta trusts him to do dealer prep, then I'm definitely willing to trust him with my baby. He does a little sanding... a little more sanding... and starts peering at the now former) scratch. Holy poopie. It's gone! He then gets out the buffer & compounds and whizzes the side back to a sparkling shine. He peers at it closely and says, "Well, the scratch is still there... but if you don't know to look for it, you can't see it." Beyond about a foot away it's completely impossible to see. I'm thinking "Damn, this guy is good!" I then ask him if he can take a look at a small scratch I had on the backside... nothing major, and a couple coats of wax would have filled it in. He gets out the buffer and next thing I know, that one is *completely* gone. Unfortunately my graphics hadn't come in yet (!@#!!@#!@ing UPS), so I had to come back this morning for the final work. Not much to say about this, except he matched them up *perfectly*, and now I still have 99% of the side graphics if (god forbid) something else goes wrong with the car. I asked him how much he'd charge me for the work -- get this. $30.00 That's it. Nothing more. The guy works a near miracle on my door and all he asks for is $30. I gladly hand it over and realise that I'm now $310 ahead of the deal ($190 for the side graphics, including shipping), and I have a near-complete passenger side graphic in case of future emergency.
