I signed the contract for the new pool this morning. It will be a kidney shaped with a screened enclosure. The builder claims he will have it finished by Thanksgiving. Book now and save $$$$ !

If you will note from my web site we are adding a pool over the winter . Once that is complete we will be raising the weekly rate by about $450 per week. But, if you go ahead and confirm now for next spring or summer you will still get the 10% FC discount off the current lower weekly rate. I'm just trying to save my FC buddies money so they can spend more on their Ferrari addiction.

Richard, we do rent for long weekends if we don't have a tenant already booked at least two weeks before the subject week. So, if you can go on only two weeks prior notice, let me know. There is a nice country club open to the public with tennis, pool and golf about 5 miles from my house. There are some beach lots available but the prices are going up fast. Lots that were $100k three years ago are going for $300k today with no end in sight.

Frank,

Looks nice. I can't see taking a week off till next summer. But I need a secluded R&R. Any chance of a 3 day weekend rate?? Any Golf courses nearby? Any good investment property left??

Dale, on one side of the Cape is the gulf and on the other side is the bay. Port St. Joe is on the other side of the bay from the Cape. If you look at the satellite photo on my web site you get a great view of the geography of the Cape.

Okay, (dim light blub going on) I kinda remember. It is near Port St. Joe? Or the Airbase (can't remember the name)? Is is strictly Gulf front or is there a beach and a soundside?

Ah, the days. We used to go and grub up our own oysters on the sound side and then dig a fire pit on the beach. Toss those babies in the fire and let nature take the hard work outta opening the darn things.

Yep, life on the Redneck Riviera is good...

Now if there was just an abandoned airbase nearby so we could race FCars....

Dale, Cape San Blas is about 35 miles West of St. George's Island and 45 miles East of Panama City Beach. The area is known as The Forgotten Coast as it has very little tourism. The building restrictions on the Cape keep out highrises and hotels and they are touting it as the new "ecotourism". No house or condo can have more than two stories. It is a wondeful place for family vacations. The water and beaches are pristine. I was there in June and in the middle of the afternoon I could sit on the beach for hours and not see another human being. Sea turtle watching is popular in May and August and camp fires on the beach are allowed. If you go ther once, you will return.

Frank, I grew up (kinda) in P-Cola and my mother still lives in Gulf Breeze. Back in the day, even Pensacola Beach was beautiful. No one ever built anything except single story block houses on the beach because, well, storm she come some day.

Today, unfortunately, we have trial lawyers with way too much money building 30-story condos.

Later, I went to school at FSU during the early 70s, and we used to run down to St. George's island for fun. Even better, I stopped by a few years ago, and St. George was still pretty nice. Imagine that!

San Blas sure sounds familar, but I can't place it in my head. It is towards Panama City? Or on the other side of PC?

BTW, if you ever want to charter a boat in PC, ask for the Loaded Pole. This is my dad's old Chris Craft from when he was charting. It's not the prettiest boat in the world, but it is probably one of the safest.

Have fun. You have great taste.

Dale

John, I love it. We used to go to Seaside every year until it got too crowded. As I used to go to Cape San Blas in the 1960s with my parents, a few years ago I decided to book a house there for a family vacation. We liked it so much we bought a lot there and built a house. The beaches are great and with no hotels(rental houses and a few small 2 story condo complexs only) there are NO crowds whatsoever. The bay is great for scalloping and exploring with dolphins everywhere. The seafood in the area is Old Florida style; no franchise eateries at the Cape . Side trips to Appalachicola are only 20 miles away. If you want a laidback, crowd free beach vacation, the Cape is wonderful. If you want a springbreak crowd to fight and an hour wait to be seated for dinner after you fought traffic to get there, go to Destin.

hey Frank how do you like that area, we usually go to Destin, but we're looking for somewhere new. Destin has just gotten soooo crowded and the traffic is TERRIBLE.

Thanks
