My age nahhhh. When I was a wee lad, I remember bugging Steve Ahlgrim and Ric Schumann until they took me for a ride in the latest Ferrari. They are among the nicest people I know, and I owe a lot of my passion of the marque to those guys. Instead of kicking a kid aside, they took me for rides, gave me brochures, and invited me to lots of events. God only knows how much money I have spent there. Surely enough to BUY a car. Mike, I will have to check tomorrow as I have left the office already. |

Mitch, I know it's off topic, but would you see if Gerald's database has anything on ZFFMA13AXD0041817 I've already run a CarFax on it... it's a car a friend of mine is considering. Thanks! |

Andy, with a little research in Gerald's amazing database: the car was offered by Centennial Motorcars , Boulder, CO with 19,000 miles in Ferrari Market Letter 0614. It was then offered in mid 1981 by University Motorcars in Auburn, AL and was in an ad in Autoweek Sept 7 1981. FAF offered it for sale in late 1981. Hope that helps! As far as former FAF folks, there is John Apen, Gerald Roush, Harold Lovinger, Ken Irwin, Steve Ahlgrim, Ric Shumann, Rich Rudiger, Jim Weed, Terry Girone, Serio Sartor and many others that are still around. I have been a fixture at FAF since 1981. |

Ted used to work in the parts dept (big suprise). That's where he got started. |

I would contact either John Apen or Steve Ahlgrim. (I bought my 308 from John) I believe John got FAF started back in the 70's. I do know he was majority owner. Email me privately and I will give you contact #'s if you would like. |

Don't forget Terry G. at Deutchland (AKA: Old World Motorcars) and Jim Weed @ Dr. Honda (AKA: Mr. Enzo). Harold L. at FoA was also at FAF. The other FAF owner with John Apen was Hunter (I forget his first name). I believe Gerald Rousch had some involvement as well (but, I've been wrong before). But as Mike said...Ahlgrim was the man in-the-know. |

Mike and Jeffrey, Thanks for the quick replies. I'll dial up T. Rutlands first and see what Steve can recall. If he can't help I'll contact FoA next. Since I'm up in NY I won't be able to make the event at Lake Lanier but thanks for the suggestion. Andy |

I know of three former employees, One of them was a co-owner and the other was one of their best techs, and one was their parts manager John Appen, Rick Charles and Ted Rutland. John may be able to help as he is a noted authority. Rick is now an independant consulting engineer and machinist. Ted Can be found at "T" Rutlands / Marenello parts I don't think any of them would have records of cars specific to their serial numbers as FAF was long ago and far away. FOA might have inherited the service records when they took the franchise. So check with them. John and Rick will be at Italian Car Day October 4th at Buford Dam Park off of Lake Lanier. Contact Steve Ahlgrim -- he now works for T. Rutlands in Atlanta. He was the original salesman at FaF on my '84 308QV and has a pretty good memory for those sorts of things.

I could use the help of some Southeast Region folks. While trying to piece together the history of my 77 308GTB s/n 23153, I was informed that in 1981 the Ferrari Market Letter had an ad in it listing the car for sale at FAF. I was hoping some folks in the Southeast Region might be former FAF employees and could help me track down any information on the former owner or on the sale of the car. Any help would be appreciated. Andy |
