John... Ive seen 160mph on highway 78 heading from Atlanta to Athens on a bike. The wind is no real issue, you lay down on the tank and huddle under the windscreen with feet on the rear pegs. A bike like a GSXR accelerates so quickly that reaching 180+ could be done very quickly.

However its extremely dangerous. On a long gentle downhill straight on my CBR600f2 I saw 155 mph. The straight dipped at the bottom before going gently uphill, with a bridge crossing a creek. A regular type highway bridge, no big deal. In a car going 80, you would barely feel the little bump crossing onto the bridge. On a bike doing 150+... the little bump acted like a ramp. I covered the length of the bridge about 1" to 2" off the ground. Scared the crap out of me. Full finger tingling, nasty taste in the mouth, Im gonna die type adrenaline jolt. Dang lucky. Still the speed of a fast bike was so addictive I really didnt learn my lesson until after spending considerable time in a hospital from a compound fracture of the femur.

I know the section of 400 your talking about. Ive actually seen about 140 through there about 20 years ago in a 911. Im sure you could hit that fast today at the right time of day. Perhaps a nutcase could even actually see 180+. Perhaps I am wrong in my judgement of Yaoshi... but the story still sounds fishy to me. Weaving in and out of traffice with a 100mph speed differential? gimme a break!

There used to be daylight hours where you were physically able to reachout and touch 150mph on 400 (including a 10%-15% margin of speedometer error) without catching up to traffic. I promice I've seen it done in more than one car. The N. bound section between Abernathy and Holcomb Bridge is well protected from animals crossing the road (my biggest fear), with 5 lanes from which to choose, where folks hug the two right lanes. And that's going up hill! I've seen 130 on numerous occasions and 120 many times. I'm sure a 355 has the ability to do 170 on this stretch of pavement. 180 is doubtfull. I would guess no motorcycle will ever see 160 on the street since the wind would blow you off. Thus, making the 355's 170 look much faster. This is of course in bursts of speed and not traveling at a sustained speed that high. That would be pushing luck too far. Dangerous indeed. The law has caught on to that section of road over the last two years. Any my traffic/DUI Lawyer brother says you are subject to loosing licence, paying $10K and serving time. I don't expect to see myself going that fast. As well stated below, once you have kids, it all changes.

Coming back from the F1 race last night and as I am driving through the Tennessee mountains I check the old speedometer on the car and realize Yaoshi doesn't realize he is in America now where we read in miles per hour, not kilometers. His numbers would match if he says the Ferrari was doing 180 kilometers. But still, your going North on 400. Other than that, I agree with Terry, this guy is B.S. and is just trying to start something.

I dont buy this story for a second. total nonsense. Going 180mph on 400.... RIGHT. In traffic no less. Anyone who knows 400 also knows that traffic on that road is too much to allow any car room to reach 180+.

Also, as to the comments about the old slow folks....

Yaoshi is obviously a kid. He has also obviously never really driven a high performance car to its limit on a track. Once you have learned to drive quickly and really push the car to its limits, it is plainly obvious that to drive in this manner on a public road is murder. Its not "if" you are going to have an accident and kill someone.... its whether it will happen in the first mile you drive or in the second.

Pushing a car to 10/10ths on the street is simply not possible. Threshold and trail braking, properly apexing a corner and drifting the car to the outer verge while balancing it on the throttle requires TOTAL commitment to the corner. Once you make that commitment.... suddenly spotting oncoming traffic leaves you absolutely zero options.

Once you start driving to the cars limit on the track.... screwing around on the street becomes pointless. Married couples dont go parking so the husband can fight to get to second base. They go home to bed and make love like experts.

To explain it in terms you may better understand....

How interested are you in playing with your Nintendo I after you have gotten an Xbox?

And one more thing. I used to ride bikes. NO 355 is going lose a GSXR 750 unless the bike rider is asleep.

Are you sure it wasn't a TR ? Since a 355 will not go a true 180mph and the tag says MADTRK....?

Yaoshi,

This isn't the site to do your investigation work, just take the fact that there are some Ferraris with the right drivers out there that will outrun your bike, so just let it go.....I personally don't think any "real" Ferrari owner would do 180 jeopardizing other people's lives on public roads....My guess would be this was a rental, or better yet, not his car, bottom line......I've had dozens of idiots wanting to race everytime I go out in my 348, but I know I am the smarter man, and I plan on making it to my retirement still driving a Ferrari.....
There are several drag strips all around Atlanta, knock yourself out....

Yaoshi,

Evidently you do not have kids. If you do then you must not have grasped the true value of human life. Look man, everyone here even the "old and slow" have the same desire to drive and enjoy their cars as you do. To unleash their power and find the cars and their own limits. However, there is a time and place for everything. If you want to take risks then do it in a safe maner like at a track. Don't selfishly make choices that very easily can affect others so negative. Imagine explaining how you murdered someone's child by driving wreckless on a public road just because you wanted to be that "true driver". Next try to imagine living the rest of your life with the death of an innocent life weighing on your heart. I for one believe that would be a heavy weight to carry. Look man I feel your passion but I strongly disagree with how you fulfill it.

I would also assume that you must be young. Its great to have fun driving fast and unleash the adrenaline but with your attitude I doubt you will live to be "old and slow" as you accused some of the other members here of being. I have not met Vince but as for Mike I have seen him drive and I certainly would not call him slow.

I will confess, I too used to drive with wreckless abandon with no concern for others and sometimes I miss the careless fun I had doing the things I did. Feeling like it wont happen to me or hey man, I am just trying to have a little harmless fun. Both are very naive asumptions. I was one of the lucky ones. I lived through it with only numerous court appearances and fines to pay for the wrong I did. Even then I did not grasp the severity of what I was doing. Even now I occasionlly find myself doing things I probably should not be doing but the thought of how I would feel if someone as foolish as you or myself caused any harm to my beautiful daughter and that is usually what jogs my senses. All the fun and highs of street racing, stories to tell your friends, and the excitment of feeling a machines power is not worth the loss of one human life. Think about it man.

As for this MADTRK, good luck finding him. He could be anybody. He may very well be a member of this board. Heck he might even be me for all you know but I doubt he would ever admit on a board like this what he did. In fact you could be anybody. You could be someone with "road rage" just looking for trouble with this guy. Who know maybe he only drove that fast because he was trying to get away from you!

Grow up dude! Remember, some things cost more than they will ever be worth and some debts are so huge they can never be paid.

Every Ferrari owner that I have met and saw on the street are much like you guys. You buy a car that can keep up with anything and affraid to use the car to it's ability. Then why a car like that. Please lets be honest which one of you guys are really true drivers. You say keep the racing for the track. The track is ok but there are to many people like Mike and Vince out there that are old and slow and most likely that can not handle traffic.. If there were more like that 355 madtrk yes. But then again no there not in your case however who ever has the fastest machine would win. I say this because I saw what that 355 did in traffic, you didn't or probably don't even have the imagination. So please if anyone knows this MADTRK drop me line.

Actually Yaoshi said he himself went up to 185 while the 355 was behind him before catching up. He's just at nuts for driving that way on the street in his motorcycle.

yaoshi, you said earlier he was 'doing maybe 180' and YOU were 'doing about 120-130'. Now you say he was doing 130 and calling him a 'crazy basterdddd'???? He wasn't the only dangerous one (CB) out there that day. Please save the racing for the track.

If you had taken the time to surf this site for a couple of weeks prior to posting, you'd realize posts on street racing and questions like yours on ownership aren't well received. Please don't expect an answer, or ask the question again.

Perhaps if you take the time to visit some local car shows or events you'll see and meet some very nice enthusiasts and owners with a passion for Ferraris.

Cheers.

I have the GSXR 750. At first I took off he was right behind me. I went up to 185mhp. He was right behind me still. Then we got into some real heavy traffic. I was still doing about 120-130mph. Then things got crazy. I could not beleive what I saw man. This guy is a freak. You should have seen him go dude. He was going in beetween cars left and right.... I had to let him go. I know when to exept degeat I guess. My first time of loosing on the highway. At least it wasn't a corvette or something.

The other day I saw a red 355 on hwy.400 I can swear he was doing maybe 180mph. as he approached the traffic I tryed to keep up with my GSXR but this guy is a maniac and beleive me I drive fast. In traffic he was going from first to last lane, emergency and all just left and right. I haven't seen anything like that in my life. Not even in the movies. I think the license plate said MADTRK. I guess it stand for madtrick, which it was. Does anyone know this crazy driver. I wanna shake his hand for being able to lose me on my GSXR.
