Yesterday I got to drive my car for the last time. I took it on 575 and drove it pretty hard I guess. Then I got off at exit 8/Town Lake parkway where I live. I thought before I go home get gas so I do not have to later. I pull over to QT ( mistake I know, I know ) pump number 6. There I am waiting for it to be full, I look around and see that the pump did not stop and , gas is everywhere, it's still on ( The stupid pump did not stop when the tank got full )By the time I got the pump out of the car it was to late. By then gas got onto the engine bay and immediatly after it was on fire. ( hot engine and gas not a very good combo, I learned it first hand ) I mean flames on top of the car. I ran inside grabbed the fire extinguisher and put the fire out only for it to start again and again until the fire dept. showed and floded the car. I was very lucky it didn't blow. Because, there it is full tank, the cap was off and fire all over. So right now I feel like very very lucky person. One last word, do not trust the pump to stop. I will post pictures later. |
