I spent the last 6 months looking for a 355GTS, until circumstances and the right car resulted in a 360. As a reference point, I had the opportunity to buy a '99 355 red/tan spider, no stories, with 3K miles for 135K before 9/11 from an authorized dealer! I agree with the 10K ask/buy spread in pricing. At the beginning of the year, I was looking at GTS's in the 110K range. If your car is a no stories, 30K done, good color car 105K - 110K is probably reasonable. Deduct for any issues. Although F1's cost more initially, and seem to be more desired by the general market, they also made more of 'em (at least in 360's) thus the supply and demand thing may equalize pricing between the two transmissions. I noticed you were from NY. If you are from the tri-state area take a look at Miller motorcars in greenwhich, ct. Their prices are rather high, but at least it will give you an idea of what to look for. I dont think they have any F355GTS's in, but they have a ton of spiders (they are asking too much for them, imo) Wide world of cars in spring valley, NY has prices that are more fair, but nothing will beat the price u get from a private seller. Your 996tt doesnt happen to be black or silver does it? |

6sp manual or f1 also noticably affects the price. |

having just wound up a nearly six month search for a spider, i have a bit of comparative data, though can't comment directly on the gts. a 1998 spider with 6K miles in fine shape with history would ask $140K and sell for low $130s (IME) at a dealership. private party, 125K or so. i assume a gts would go for something like 7.5K to 10K less than a spider. one thing to watch out for on the 1998s: if it's an early build 1998 (eg: 06/97) then CW says that the car is due for its first engine-out service (the 30K) at the five year mark - which would be within 90 days. those aren't free ($5K if nothing is found particularly wrong) and you need to factor it in. if i can be of help duane, don't hesitate to email. this was my first f-car (i'm a p-car guy) and the process, to put it lightly, sucked rocks. i've never ever ever had these kind of problems spending this kind of money. doody. |

Duane, Look at as many sites as possible. I recently purchased a 328 (my first Ferrari), and after looking a while, became very comfortable with levels of pricing. There are a lot of great dealers with cars for sale (pricier, natch) that you can find on the web. Bottom line is, what you want and what you feel comfortable spending? |

GTS's although desirable to some (i like them and have had one in a 355, not counting a 328gts i also had) are not quite as valuable in the marketplace for at least two reasons. First it is neither fish nor fowl, in that it is not a full convertible but has the negatives of one (cowl shake is a risk here) and perhaps for that reason, is not sought after by the berlinetta purists (i assume it has the same obstacles to being tracked as a convertible); open air motorists in ferrari-land tend to opt for the vertibles overwhelmingly. Take a look at the Ferrari Market Letter, the the car experience website, and some other online sources; i think there was one in the NY Times that has been advertised for more than a month. Is it being sold by an authorized dealer? Has it had a belt service, fresh tires, and a complete going over, mechanically? Is it in a fairly desirable color? These factors will point you within a range 10k $ above or below say 115k dollars, my best guess. What say you, cognescenti of the chat? |

I am looking at 1998 Ferrari F355TS with about 6000 miles on it. The car has has no paint work and looks to be in great condition. Does anyone have a Idea on what the car is worth? Any feedback would be appreciated |
