Richard,

First thing: Go here:

http://server.ferrarichat.com/~ferrari/ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/21/6828.html

After delving into this VERY thoroughly this is what I can tell you:

The Tubi sounds awesome, FOR A WHILE. I'm sure I've said this on hundreds of links now, but many Tubi V12 owners moan about excessive bass and boomyness at low rpm. Someone recently told me that Tubi build a 'silenced silencer' to reduce the vibrations etc....

Also - I think that there is little point in purchasing a high-flow cat - Get a cat replacement instead. It unlocks more power which I would guess is the point of any aftermarket cat modification.

I haven't heard too many Tubis but I would say that the Koenig is loud but quite smooth and screams at high rpm. Although it is loud I would say there's not too much bass at idle.
Crucially though, it matches the 550's engine note and amplifies it instead of drowing the V12 orchestra with bass......

I have also heard an unsilenced de-cated 550 from Koenig. This option is not mentioned on the KS website. It sounds VERY VERY loud but quite magnificent - clearly it maximises any power gain. Tubi also build straight pipes too which in the words of a salesman get the 550 sounding like a 365GTB Daytona!!

KS also have a throttle valve control system which Walter Koenig told me reduces exhaust noise on small throttle openings but unleashes the scream when pedal hits the metal.....

I am no sure yet if the 575 Tubi will be different from the 550. A visit to the factory next week will confirm one way or the other. (we beleive it will be the same).
100 cell cats is a new expression for both TSI/Tubi and myself. Please let us know where you saw it. Tubi does supply a high quality, high flow cat (developped for DTM racing) for some late F cars. It does not have EPA approval but pulls better (cleaner) numbers than stock. Right now they are only available for the 355, 360 and all TR's. Also in case anyone is interested and FOR OFF-ROAD use ONLY, Tubi has some reeeeeeeeeeally exciting cats, manifolds and exhausts they make for the 355GT/360GT. Private me so we don't clutter this great forum.

You lucky dog.

I'm sure Tubi will have an exhuast kit for your car. The Tubi's give the car the F1 sound, what the car should sound like in my opinion.

What color options did you order?

Gents: Have a 575 coming June of 2003. What preferences do you have regarding after market exhausts. Tubi v. Koening?? How do they sound at idle, cruise, and full throttle? Any other brands? Do the Tubi's come with 100 cell cats?

thanks

tom
