Tried the Copaslip Grease on my 328 pads, didn't work. As I said, the Porterfield pads not only don't squeak but also give off much less dust. My dealer offers both (stock or Porterfield R4S)if you need a pad replacement and tells me 85% go for the RS4s.

To cure squeeling brakes all you have to do is apply a thin layer of copperslip grease to the back of the pads, works on both standard and Pagid race pads on my F355 and previously on the 328 Pads supplied in the UK for 355's are brembo branded and are supplied with small sachets of copperslip grease Surprised the dealers didn't suggest it |

Dilly: The Rosso Barchetta color you see on '95-'97 F355s was changed in '98 to a darker maroon. The newer Barchetta color more resembles the old Ferrari (Italian racing) red (when they were not Maranello Racing yellow). And, Jimpo1, thanks for the colorful 328 brake description ("squeal like a teenage girl"). My 54 yr-old aunt still squeels like that. 'Cracks me up. |

It has been said by someone that red is the only color for an Italian car including a Ferrari. I respectfully disagree. While I have had a Rosso Corso TR and a Rosso Barchetta 330GTC, I would have preferred another color for both. The 330GTC looks best in blue IMHO and the TR looks best in black IMHO. My current 348 Spider is in silver and I had to look almost a year before finding one in that color in the condition I required. While I agree that some cars look good in red, its just not my first choice. I plan to buy a 550 next, but not in red. |

i saw a number of vintage ferraris at goodwood with this color and usually tan interior. nice. but it brings to mind another question and that is, apart from the truly hideous color combos (and we can all think of our personal worst siting), does it really matter what color the car is? i do have my opinions on what color combos suit what model best but, as some of you may have gathered from some of my previous thread responses, i am a cheap bastard and always buy used and low on the depreciation curve; at which point i am not really concerned by color as much as mechanical and structural solidity. for example, i would never pass on a perfectly good, correctly priced example of the model i wanted, just because the color was black over tan vs my preferred red over black (or whatever). i also have never understood people who will pay over the average for a specific color combo that they think is 'rare'. yes it might look better in that color than some other (normal) combos, but to pay a hefty premium for that ? never. flame away....... |

The 550's brakes squeal too Amir - I commend your guts... I don't know why but I just don't think I could ever muster the guts to buy a non-Rosso Corsa Ferrari. Only Nero would tempt me away. |

My 355 had brakes that squeeked so loud that at times it was embarrassing. The 360 brakes do not squeek at all. |

You guys that are touting the virtues of the Porterfield R4S pads are dead on! My Ferrari dealer told me about them and I've been running them for the past 1,000 miles. Fantastic! No squeal, less brake dust! Very reasonably priced.

To the brakes issue: my brakes don't squeel unless I use them hard. I can go hundreds of miles without squeeks and then--bam. If I use them real hard just once, then it takes about 200 miles for the glassing to wear off the pads before they become quiet at 20% (i.e. normal) pressures. On the other hand, when I get off the track after a day of "high performance driving", they never squeel. My thought on all of this is that at the track, I am wearing through the glasing faster than I am creating the glasing; but on the backroads, I don'thave enough time "on the pads" to wear through the glassing. So if you want to get rid of the squeeks, go to the track and run the snot out of the car and its brakes. Then try not to overheat the pads. |

The 355 was debuted at the factory in the Rosso Barchetta color. The powers that be thought it would be the hot color for the car. Rosso Barchetta was a recreation of the old Alfa racing red. Our 355 is a Barchetta/black car. I have seen a number of 355s in Barchetta and most of them have light color interiors. I think the car looks great in the color regardless of the interior. Brakes don't seem to be a problem with our car. |

To get rid of squeeky brakes, change over to a carbon kevlar pad, like the R4S pads from www.porterfield.com I had Lucas MetalMax on my 308/QV before, and couldn't stand the annoying brake squeal. Now with the new pads (for the last two years, and two track events), there's no problem.

Amir, you have my car! I want a 355 in that combo, so don't sell it until I'm ready for my next car. My brakes squeal like a teenage girl, but it's a 328. |

Rosso Barchetta was the most popular red on 1960s era Ferrari race and road cars. The Rosso Corsa red didn't become popular until the late 1970s early 1980s. I had a 1967 330GTC that was Rosso Barchetta on black. |

Amir, when I visited FoW some time ago for service, there were two Barchetta colored F355's there. The leather was tan rather than creme though. Doody, I believe Fiorano is metallic, while Barchetta is a non-metallic, dark red/maroon. |

no hard data on color breakouts. based on data i've collected, the most popular 355 color was Rosso Corsa; second was Giallo Modena; third was Nero; and everything else was a far far far distant fourth through Nth (silver, white, green, etc.). i seem to remember some magazine trying to get this info and they may have been told that FNA simply didn't have that data (ie: they never tracked/compiled it). how is Rosso Barchetta different than Rosso Fiorano? doody. |

Also are sqeeky brakes normal? I went to the dealer and he said its normal for all ferrari's to have sqeeky brakes?? Thanks in advance
