I want to say it was going for around $60k...this was probably about 8 years ago...it was offered by someone in California....not sure what ever became of it..I guess it will never be one of those $100k Dinos we see being advertised (not sure if those actually sell for those prices) but I'm sure if it was done correctly they could get $50k to 60k for it now. |

Do you remember how much it was off hand. Did the value drop much due to the conversion? |

a couple of years back there was a 246 gts for sale in FML with a 308QV engine conversion...now there's some extra power... Martin, were those borrani's on that 246gts? Interesting... looks like someone did some body work on the nose to make the ferrari emblem work... |

Here's my 2 cents. I own a 246 Dino, a 360 spider, and have owned a bunch of Camaros. I have tracked the Dino, and it is a very quick car with great handling, but the quoted 195 bhp is very optimistic for a US car with emissions and safety equipment, and it is heavier than it should be. Still, the mid-engine layout makes it really hard to spin. My results: Straight line acceleration: Camaro The turns: Dino (barely, on stock 14" rims; by a big margin with non-stock 16" wheels and low profile tires). Acceleration out of turns: Probably the Camaro, since the Dinos seem to suffer from too much slosh in the carb float bowls in tight turns, and stutter on the way out. Pure fun: The Dino, and not just for its looks. It's a blast to drive. If the Dino had 50 more real HP it would be phenomenal. I'm looking into some mods for mine. |

I haven't actually driven my car...Yet! BUT I have been in a GT4 Dino with all new suspension and a fatter roll bar in the back...It is on rails!!! There is no way a Camaro could keep up in the corners, I don't care how modern the Camaro is. Just my .02 cents Canadain! |

I agree with Jay. I also think the Dino would out perform a Camaro in the handling department. Fun to drive would definitely go to the Dino as well. A fellow chatter has got me hooked on them and I have been looking at a few. They are wonderful cars. |

Sorry to burst your bubbles guys, but the Camaro would out-perform any street legal Dino in all performance categories except one: Fun to Drive! |

The 206 in Formula 2 form would eat the camaro alive. And that was back in the 60's.And it would only be a 1 lap race as the camaro would hit the wall.no brakes,no handling. |

Hey Terry, I really do believe a Dino will out handle the Camaro. Dinos with tight suspension bushings handle like go karts! The Camaro is fast, no doubt but it can't corner like the Dinos IMHO. |

I bet a 1969-74 Dino will out perform a 1969-74 Camaro though. |

I believe your Camaro will probably beat any Dino in pretty much every performance catagory on a race track. After all, its at least 25 years newer and technically far more advanced. However, on the street the Dino is probably more fun to drive because it will give much greater driver feedback, sound tons better and be more engaging. It also of coarse looks tons better. The dino will also not lose 50% of its value over the next 6 or 7 years... J Grande says the Dino will out handle your Camaro. I seriously doubt it. The Camaro has more tire on the road and more sophisticated suspension. It also has better brakes. The '01 SS Camaro is a pretty hot car! I would still rather have a 246 Dino, but I guess the bottom line is that this is not an apples to apples comparison. Nobody would choose one car over the other because they are in totally different catagories. |

I read in the Forza 246 buyers guide that if your 246 was not fast, that something was wrong with it. The 246's HP to weight ratio is better than the 328 ! |

206 and 246 dinos are not quick. They both handle amazingly and are a blast to drive. I don't own either (or any Ferrari for that matter), but currently care for a 206. I have driven many Ferraris and cared for a few and the Dino is one of my Favorites to drive. Most cars on the road will out run it in a drag race. The sound of these cars is fantastic & the handling is terrific. Your Camaro is much faster. |

Which Dino? The 6 cylinder 246 Dino 2 seater or the 8 cylinder (4 seater) 308 GT4 Dino? The 246 (2.4 liter, 6 cylinder)dino has a claimed power of 195hp @ 7600rpm with 165 lb ft of torque @ 5500rpm. Top speed is about 148mph. Very quick car for the era. The 308 GT4 (3.0 liter, 8 cylinder) Dino has 255hp @ 7600rpm with 210 lb ft of torque at 5000rpm of course euro versions differ from the US versions slightly. Bsically the same engine as the well known 308 cars. Yes your Camaro is faster, but I think most people will be looking at the Ferrari! So when are you trading up? Just Kidding! |

Hey everyone, just came across this site and figured I'd ask a question or two that I've had for a while. My neighbor has a Dino, not sure of year that he drives regularly.. Anyhow, I was wondering how fast they are? I just got my new toy(01 SS camaro) and yea, i know it's not on par with recent ferrari's, but I just wanted to see how it compared to his. It's a georgeous car, but am curious as to how much it's performance matches its looks. |
