That reminds me of the Toyota Celica commercial where a red celica is parked on the side of the street and an old man walking down the sidewalk yells "slow down". If you guys have seen it you'll appreciate how it applies, if try not to think I'm crazy.
My neighbors loved the Ferrari (now I'm at college so they don't see it much, but come summertime they will again), nothing like a ridiculously loud car idling outside at 7 in the morning before school, or at like 2 in the morning every friday and saturday. The guy on one side has wanted a 308 for a long time but kept getting BMWs for reliability. The other side was a 100% Italian family. I used to come out of my driveway sideways, tires screeching anytime that the oil temp was warm enough to do so. I also would brake for my driveway at the absolute latest moment. I never sped, still don't (25mph) so they didn't care at all, they get a kick out of it.
Someone had a great quote hear a while back. Basically don't go fast anywhere people are. I feel if you follow that you can do whatever you want. If wanna kill yourself out in the middle of nowhere, be my guest, just don't take anyone with you.

I live on a back road with lots of kids so I always take it easy. I was driving home at 25 MPH in first and that's like 5000 RPM in my Lotus. This irate woman runs in to the street screaming at me to slow down; the speed limit is 30 BTW, but the engine howling must have made her think I was flying.
Really pissed me off.

Well thanks to people that have nothing better to do but complain I now have speed bumps on my street. Although in my 29 years of living in the area I have never heard of any child getting hit.....it is a traffic "calming" zone. Hmmmm I remember my Mom telling me NOT to play in the street because of cars....what has changed? Now emergency vehicles have a longer response to time if ever I need them but people still speed down the street.

The one time I had a neighbor comment on my "fast" driving I pointed out to her that if she has never had an accident, infraction or at any time diobeyed the traffic law - then she has a right to criticize. I have never sped down my street if there were children playing or traffic.

I've seen dumb driving by Ferrari drivers too. In 1982 I was in a cab going from Logan Airport into downtown Boston. The road curved to the left under a freeway. There was a brand new Ferrari in the right lane and a semi ahead of him. The Ferrari driver badly wanted to get ahead of the semi. The semi driver started to merge into the left lane going around the curve. The driver of the 328 floored it and squeezed around the semi, which was already halfway into the lane the Ferrari was also trying to occupy. I had visions of mangled Ferrari in my head, but somehow he made it through safely. I realized then that Boston drivers are a different breed. It's the only place I've ever seen someone pass in the grassy center median on a freeway. I also realized that all Ferrari drivers are not World Champion material.

It's a lose-lose situation when driving your Ferrari in your own neighborhood. Drive too fast (and too loud) and your neighbors think you are a menace. Drive too slow and kids (and even some parents) try to pass you, just so they can say they did it.

Hmmm. Try and figure out minivan mentality. You know very well that, had you been behind her, she would have been brake-checking you at 20mph. Take comfort that it wasn't you in the minivan, looking out over your hood at some poor sap in a little ol' Ferrari!

The odd thing is that I wasn't going slow. I actually did call the lady and spoke with her about it. She was very rude etc. She claimed she was late and that I should have pulled over to let her pass. Might I add this is a double yellow line with no shoulder. Then she explained that the car looked old and to get it fixed so it would work properly. As soon as I held her accountable for her actions she would argue and change the subject. She wouldn't hear that her action was uncalled for. Then proceeded to hang up the phone. The sad part is that she lives in the same neighborhood.

I find that with an F-car you need to have twice as much room to merge otherwise people go nuts. It has happened to me a few times and people think you cut them off and flip you the bird. I normally just flash them the peace sign, smile and that just makes them more mad. :-)

I forgive you Tyler :-)

I really hate bad language and bad gestures (Okay - I AM human and just this morning muttered some words under my breath) - I get a better response by just blowing a kiss at the person - it leaves them shocked and confused. I do find that people see a Ferrari and give me a hard time when I merge (I see a space I'll take it) unless they notice I'm female...then if it's a guy driving they grin and let me in. Thank you Christie Brinkley (NL Vacation)

We teach driving skills but not courtesy. I find the world today very selfish and self centered.

(P.S. - maybe the blowing a kiss may not work for you guys........LMAO)

This is one of your *neighbors*? I would find her and ask her if she ever tells anyone " you" in person. Do this in front of her family. I can't stand people crawling around either but I don't make vulgar gestures at them.

I also make a point to not hold others up but that's a separate topic. :-)

Nika, no offense meant to you. I don't think most men know how to drive worth a damn either.

Hey Richelson, just let these people fly by you and ignore their "friendly" comments and signals. To keep adequate distance from the car ahead of me on the highway, I hold it back, but keep with the flow. Everytime, someone gets behind me and rides my ass, I pull over, they pass, give the "friendly" looks and climb up the other guy's ass. I often end up saying to these people "Hey s--- for brains, just how far up the line do you want to go?". "Are you going any faster NOW?"...

That's why I love the back-country roads, so free and open...

LOL Barry. Funny you say that (something happens everyday but today was particularly interesting). I was on 9W today coming back from the bike shop in the jeep, it's the road FNA is on, a two lane in each direction with traffic lights. This psycho b_tch in a silver E320 who's like 50 goes by me doing at least 75 (it's a 35 zone), I just started laughing, and cursing of course. She almost plowed into half a dozen people within a mile or so. She had either WOT or activate the ABS, no intermediate speeds, it was interesting to say the least. Funny part is that at the end of the road I was ahead of her despite the fact that I stayed in the same lane and she ducked and weaved the whole way. Just my interesing driver story for the day.

When I was young anytime I saw a Ferrari I always hoped they would get on it so I could hear the engine sing. Of course they never did. When ever I see a kid eyeballing my car when I am driving it I always get on it for them. You can always see them in the mirror watching then car watching the car taking off.

Hang on there Tyler dude......I represent that comment! LADY and SUV -.......yes I drive the Cherokee in the winter and my 308 in the summer. I'm courteous in BOTH......and from what I see having male genitalia doesn't make you a nice, intelligent, happy driver.

I will always let a ferrari go in front of me hoping the driver will open it up and let me hear it sing (they rarely do :-().

Naw Richelson I can't say I have had that problem yet. I do putt-putt my car off the line, in an attempt to make the clutch last a bit longer. People don't seem to mind cause they are busy checking out the car. Actually they are more polite when I'm drivng in the Ferrari. It's funny some times. I have had people wave me by, when they have had complete right of way. Heehehee I have muscled my way across a four way stop, and even then everyone lets me by. I have only done that a few time to see if I could get away with it, but don't try it at home kids. The only times I have had someone honk the horn at me is when I have blown by them at about 120mph.

I think the key words here are "lady" and "minivan". If you like you can substitute "SUV" for minivan, either way the use of these words together almost always describes a frustrating if not tragic set of events.

I sometimes get pissed when people so the speed limit, but not in the middle of town or where there is heavy traffic. I just get a little mad when its on my fun roads :-)

Ok, here is something I would like to ask you guys about. I am taking my 308 out for a spin. The cars oil temp hasn't moved yet so I figure I will keep the rpms below 3500. A minivan is behind me. I pull out and make a left out of a subdivision and I am about to shift to 3rd from 1st at about 20mph and I hear this lady bang on her horn. I then see her waving her hand and then I am going the normal speed limit and she flips me off. She almost rear ended me. What was this all about? Could she really be in such a hurry. Does this happen to any of you? I guess if you want to take care of your car many won't be happy when you are out on the road. I have had the same problem at stop lights as I take my time to get going.
